WoG - Quick Selective Quoting
 

What is it? / What does it do?
This is a small modification, which adds the possibility of selective quoting.
Highlight the text of your choice, click the appropriate button and the "Quick Reply" you receive the text to quote.

Installation
1-) Upload image quickquote.gif to your style directory. (example in attachment)
2-) Import product


Upgrade
1-) Import latest product and select Allow Overwrite
2-) If doing changes - revert template wog_quick_quote_button


You don't want Auto-Position?
1-) Log in to AdminCP
2-) vBulletin Options -> vBulletin Options -> WoG - Quick Selective Quoting
3-) Auto-Position -> Select No
4-) In templates: postbit and postbit_legacy insert variable $wog_qquote_button
to the position in which it is located the button "Quick Quote"

What a brill idea. Does this insert the OP's name into the quote tags, and can more than one quote be done this way in a single post?

No, this is a completely separate addon. Multiquote works just as before. Modification does not change anything. :)

Nice idea with a lot of potential. I might install in the future if I have the time to customize it for my board.

Suggestions:
-To reduce clutter, the button could appear above the selection, and not at a fixed place in every post. Kinda like the icons that IE8 shows when you select something in a webpage.
-The ability to store the quotes in a cookie (or even a global variable) and when you hit the normal reply button to have them inserted in the editor, like multiquote does.
-Another button to let you save your favorite quotes and have them displayed in your profile.

Thank you, that was true. I fixed it now.

When I use an incompatible browser, instead of telling me that it's an incompatible browser when I click the quick quote feature, it gives me this phrase inside the quotes:

$vbphrase[wog_qquote_no]

Perhaps an error in the call function so that it doesn't parse the phrase?

thanks for the hack

lets say i am trying to quote two questions

if i select the first question and press the buttun
it is works fine
then i write my answer
but for the 2nd question it ignores my first answer and it sets the 2nd quote upove my first answer
it puts the quotes below each others

The spam button is using the exact same spot as the quote reply button of yours.

Feature request:

Multi-quote on selective quoting (as in, to work just like the default multi quote feature vb has).

I second the experience above, the same issue happens within Safari in MacOSX.
Firefox and Opera in MacOSX are working well, as far as I could see.

Edit: Tried Firefox, Opera, Safari on both MacOSX and Windows, Internet Explorer solely within Windows (no magic :D) and it?s definitely Safari on both platforms, which causes the issue. All other browsers are working like a charm.
