Forum Admin Conventions?
 

I am fairly new to being a Forum Administrator/Moderator and am wondering if there are conventions or get togethers for folks like us? I am interested in learning more about how to use and improve my forum and would be interested in attending an event where there was a lot of training and idea swapping. Where would I look for something like that? Any ideas?:)

There was a meeting announced by Jelsoft like one or two years ago, but it was a local call to take a beer i think...

I offer my farm up if you we need a place to host the event. Bring your own tents. ;)

would be more "BradStock" though, and i'd be glad to bring the kids and wife to the party... :)

It's fine with me but if your kids get lost in the woods I don't want to get sued or anything. ;) BTW I wasn't kidding, it is a legitimate offer.

April: www.theadminzone.com sounds like it's right up your alley. It isn't as good as face to face but it is a good resource.

Thanks Brad! -Really, I would be there! I would love to come learn from all you masters! I am sure my boss would pay for me and maybe a few others to go. Other professionals do it. Why not us?

Bradstock sounds like a good idea. We could all let our hair down, unwind a little and reminisce about days which are to come. :D

Awww, come on guys, think for a minute. Most forum admins can't go a day without checking on their sites, so we have to make sure wherever it is has wi-fi over the whole area and Brad's only got dial up (sorry sweetie, I love you, you know that.. but needs must :p)

Brad surely have a backbone pointing directly in the barn....

or we can just call the Nasa to install one direct link between his house and a satelite...that's no trouble for brad, sure!

If i remember correct, then Brad also entered the 21st century some time ago.

PS I would not take your children to his house. ;)

I have some other friends near Brad's farm, i have a large family.. lol

p.s. Most of my life I've live in Big Cities, so a change of environment will be refreshing... besides I'm allergic to chickens, horses, pigs, bird singing... etc :rolleyes:

so the vb owners who are below the legal age will have to be followed by their parents...

Half the farm is now serviced by cable and I've got wi-fi covering most places where we need it. Our main problem is we have a lot of pine trees so it isn't possible to get it everywhere without some more cash flow.

I have heated barns you can sleep in. ;) Bed space isn't a problem if it was only going to be 10 or so people..more than that and I would have a hard time finding a place for you to sleep. ;) Just because I'm out in the boonies doesn't mean there aren't hotels near by though. :p

Heated barns.... does this come complete with barn cats?

Gee wiz! It would be like a vacation to start at 10am! I usually have to wake up at 5:30am to be at work by 7am!
I know you all are playing with me here, :) but I think it would be great! I talked to my boss and he thinks it would be great if he could send me somewhere to learn how to make our forum better! Who knows, there could be some money to be made here. :rolleyes:

no need to send you anywhere to make your forum better, you simply learn by browsing this forum and read how we deal with ours... then you may even have to code a little bit yourself if you dare... it helps understand what is and what is not possible to do.. :)

I guess I just have the wants to go somewhere! I am the type of person that likes to interact in real time, in person, see expressions and such. :D

Oh good, I'm a keen advocate in seeing expressions, emotions and such. Just for any confusing, I'll be the one wearing a brown coat. :)

We used to have get togethers back in the old BBS days. I remember OneBBS-Con. Not sure if they have anything like those for Forums.
