Suggestion - Recruitment Forums?
 

How about if vBulletin.org added a forum where the owners of vBulletin could advertise if they were in need of help or need staff and where users can post there applications and the site owners can read through them?

One problem with that..., that's for paid services. What about free services, since moderators/staff usually aren't paid...

Exactly. I for one do not pay my staff.

It still goes in that section and note in your request that its not a paid position

there was some requests for unpaid staff in that forum in the past, and they were not deleted... if these are real situations, not recruitment for new members, you can.

We allow unpaid requests for staff in the service requests forum.

I suggest you: Go and post on 'Paid Services' Section' :D

I would also suggest that you be quite diligent in your hiring standard and selection. I've heard recent horror stories about scam artists trolling the paid requests area - It's deplorable really - so you want to make sure that you:

1. Check references of the person you intend to hire.
2. Be very careful with whom you hand over your AdminCP, ftp, database (phpMyAdmin) & cPanel access over to.
3. In general just be careful.
4. Post a client feedback in your request thread.

Taking the right precautions will save you money and headaches in the long run untill some kind of feedback system is implemented so you know who you are dealing with around here.

I just spent over 6 hours fixing some shyt on a forum that had errors everywhere. 5 hours basically probono because I like the niche: WLS (weight loss surgery) --- Some of you have seen my big fat cheeks in my profile pic - yeah yeah yeah - not those cheeks - I mean - I value the infraction system - but let's not try to get forever-banned muuuuuuuaaaahahahahhahaa --- MsJacquii moons everybody :rolleyes:

Um... Yeah - spent some hours fixing some atrocious errors made by some "lowest price" ASSASSIN... It was not cute at all. And of course - I was commissioned to do other work actually - I didn't want to have my stellar name raked through the muck and I actually appreciate vB - yup - I'm a vBAholic.... Different story entirely. Truly though - if I'd charged a hefty fee of $45/hour - I'd be the new owner of a good pair of $600 shoes... Interestingly enough - "pro bono" usually translates to free - I suppose it's a good thing I wear sandals. At anyrate - back on topic less I get a 100 point infraction for "worthless post" LOL

I cannot stress it enough - BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR ADMINCP! :)

btw - a comprehensive and FAIR feedback system should most definitely be implemented on vBulletin.org --- Let's be honest... There is a ton of money being exchanged here. I 41 think a feedback system will benefit both the person shelling out the money and the person doing the freelance job.
