Logo in header
I am using 3.7.3 PL1 and twisted dark template.
just updated or logo, and I can see it fine in firefox... but nothing else... IE, chrome both show the red "X" here is the header logo code from my header template: Code:
<!-- logo --> |
I can see it fine. If you click on the red x, what does it say the image path should be? If you don't know, then we could use a link to your site to see for ourselves.
|
the path is corect... just as it is in the code listed above. but in IE and chrome... there is no image size or file type like it simply doesnt exist.
|
yeah.. looks fine to me.
|
so you can both see the logo in IE? I am using IE7 and cant see it, but its fine in FF 3.03
|
I don't have IE, but I can see the image just fine in Safari and firefox.
If you don't want to give a link to your site with the problem, then you should probably check your error_logs. |
|
It don't look like the logo is installed in the correct directory on your server Mine is situated at
Code:
http://www.ukbusinesslive.co.uk/forum/images/styles/techinfo/misc/logo.jpg According to your link your logo is at Code:
http://www.norcalaircooledgroup.org/graphics/logo2.jpg Code:
http://www.norcalaircooledgroup.org/YOUR FORUM DIRECTORY/images/styles/YOUR STYLE/misc/logo.jpg :) |
Thanx, but thats where it was and I changed it up just looking for some sort or results to no avail

Strange, if you look at properties when your on the red cross it shows your logo in the root of your server??? Perhaps the style has been programed to look there instead??? Try sticking a logo in there and see what happens??? Or you could just delete it and temporarily add the logo in the header and align left or right?? If you say thats where your logo is, in the right folder then i'm stumped, never seen a problem like this before :erm: |
Hmmm changed it back to the template folder it was originally in, and still nothing in IE. Added ALT text just to see if it was reading the updated html and that part works. This just makes no sense at all. seems fine in FF and safari both PC and MAC but IE and someone that has an old version of FF cant see it. and no one with IE can see it.
UPDATED CODE - this is at the top of my header template Code:
<!-- logo --> Problem resolved... both versions of my logo are jpg format. The old one was RGB but the new one is CMKY. as soon as I changed it to RGB it is fine now. wierd that FF can show it but not IE or Chrome. |

Using "IE CMKY jpeg" in google, I found this article - http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/jpeg-p...irefox-and-ie/ This was done a couple of years ago, and obviously firefox is now fine with these images. It did make a good point though.... you should be doing a Save for Web with your image, not just a Save. The file will be smaller and should always be viewable in any browser. |
save for web is pretty limited in color though the quality is pretty bad sometimes
|
Glad it got sorted Bulldog, it seems to be one of those strange but true type of problems :D
