What does this Mod do ?
See the title. It will let a user, or more, Harvey user and/or usergroups download a fake.


Settings in AdminCP

• Extensions which they are no fake
• Userid(s)
• Harvey
• Usergroups
• Fake File

Not mutch - but ... all you need

Description
It doesn't change any permissions !!!
1st enter all extensions that are no fakes (i used all vBulletin Image extensions as default). Now, enter one or userids (seperate by comma).

Those users can download (if they have the permission), but ... will they get what they want :D
If you like, you can also add (or set alone) all Harvey users.
You can also choose one or more usergroups. Therefor it's uninteresting if the user is in primary or secondary usergroup.

Fake File:
You have the option to enter a file. As default settings it's empty and means, that the Fake Attachment will create atomatically.

Example
We have User X with his UserID 5. He has the full permission to upload and download attachments. Also he can see images.
If we set now the userid 5, he can download but will get only "trash" or the download won't open (I think ZIP will get an error).

This is a Beta and should work also with pictures.

Why would you want a specific usergroup or user downloading a fake file? Is this meant as a joke/prank or punishment? or something else?

I guess it could be useful for warez sites...

Or it could be usefull for let unregistered users download a file wich contain something like a welcome message, and a short tutorial for a quick registration. This is not a bad idea, Coroner.

I would be extremely annoyed if a forum did that to me.

If this product could be extended in order to allow to download light and complete versions of a file (based off usergroups), I definitively would be interested! :)

? I think you misunderstand what it does.
You can have a Fake or the correct file - nothing else.

Instead of having to put hit and runners, Known as a leecher, in a miserable group or ban from attachments, or better is to Inform them, it would be wise to contribute, it is really a good Idea. And you can always deny why they have a bad attachment LOL. In fact you wouldn't need to prune for inactivity. Oh such evil thoughts LOL :D

If it did that, would it still be considered a fake file?

Why not just deny them access to the file instead?
