Christmas Spirit

Let's get ready for the holiday season. Hope you like this one.

Christmas Spirit features -
  • mouse-over navigation bar
  • a new forum home look
  • side column
  • optimized for postbit_legacy
  • XHTML 1.0 Transitional!

** Instructions **
  1. Open your ftp client to your server. Go to your forum's images folder, open it, and create a styles folder.
  2. Next, upload the "ChristmasSpirit" folder via FTP to your server, into your forum's styles folder, so that your image path is images/styles/ChristmasSpirit/buttons, for example.
  3. After you've uploaded the folder, open your admin control panel on your forum, and import the xml file, by going to Styles & Templates > Download / Upload styles > Import Style XML File.
  4. Click on the Browse button, locate the christmas-spirit-style.xml file, and double-click it so it loads in that box, then hit the Import button.
  5. Next, open the Upload to Forum Root folder and upload the following 3 images into your forum root directory: bleft_066cs.gif, bmid_066cs.gif, and bright_066cs.gif
Again make sure that these 3 files are uploaded to your forum root folder (same place where you have your vBulletin installed).

There is a blank header, in GIF format, in the "Blanks" folder. No PSD's are available.

Enjoy!

Installed on 3.7.3 thank you :)

Can I just ask...the DEMO shows no sign of...
statusicon/forum_old.gif
statusicon/forum_new.gif
etc.

Can those be added on 'forumdisplay' and a quick how to please?
Other than that it's working fine :)
Many thanks.

Sorry, I meant the key at the base of the screeen. The two trees are missing.

mac27 11-03-2008 03:22 AM

The form status icons are not part of this style. I removed them.

trilogy33 11-03-2008 04:46 PM

That explains it, thank you. Understood.

Yes, that happened to me at first. :erm:
You need to make sure that the uploaded folder "Christmas Spirit" has no space in it.
Rename it to "ChristmasSpirit" (no space).

Ohiosweetheart 11-04-2008 11:30 AM

No need to rename anything, because you don't upload the Christmas Spirit folder at all. You're supposed to upload the ChristmasSpirit folder that is inside.

<font color="DarkGreen">great work thank you so much its really nice work

:erm: Ah yes of course...my bad.
I'd originally sent the whole lot up :o

grahamsmythe 11-10-2008 12:41 AM

I have installed this Christmas style, and it's great.

I've adjusted the header template as follows to allow for some more items on the header, but have a small problem (see the attachment), where we almost need a 'carriage return' after the links.

I'm sure this must be relatively easy to do, but for the life of me, I can't work out how to do it. Is anyone able to help me?

It looks like you have way to many items on that navbar. It is not designed to hold that many items. I would recommend doing a drop down menu like the one that is used for Quick Links.

gazzak 11-13-2008 10:24 AM

I like this very much an may well use it this Christmas. I'd just like to know how to edit the blocks on the left, where there are links, and the box that says "text goes here"?

Ohiosweetheart 11-13-2008 11:16 AM

You'll find that in the FORUMHOME template.

If you click install that would be nice.

Thanks, made the same mistake.

robbiefritz 11-16-2008 08:43 PM

For some reason my style selection drop down disappeared when I installed this style. uninstalled and they returned.

Ohiosweetheart 11-16-2008 09:16 PM

That's odd. It's there, on this skin on our site.

Freddy.k 11-17-2008 08:43 AM

Open the forumhome template for this style.

Find
Code:

<!-- Start of Side Menu -->
Delete everything from there all the way to

Code:

<!-- / End Of Side menu -->
Save.

momo2 11-19-2008 09:00 PM

RedDevil 11-20-2008 10:01 AM

One question, being new to coding etc how do i add my dropdown menu to the bar ive enclosed screen shots, ive looked thru but nothing seems to work, unless i add the full menu's which spoil the look so dont want to do that.
