vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 1

We're pleased to announce the first public beta of vBulletin 3.8.0, after running the earlier alpha releases here on vBulletin.com, we're satisifed that any serious issues have been resolved. Any customer with an active vBulletin license can download the beta.

There is an extensive blog post by Darren that showcases some of the new features and improvements that have been made to vBulletin 3.8.0.

Significance of a Beta Release
This is beta software. If you are not fully at home with backing-up and restoring your forum, dealing with bugs and regular upgrades, do not install this beta version.


Customers should bear in mind that this is a public beta, not a certified 'stable' release so the following caveats apply:

• Beta software is unsupported and you install beta versions at your own risk.
• Some minor bugs remain unresolved at this time, so beta software should not be on production sites.
• You should always back up your database fully before attempting to install beta software.
• If you choose to install this version, you should be aware that we plan to release new beta versions in rapid succession as bugs are fixed and holes are plugged. Do not install this beta version if you are not willing or able to keep up-to-date with new releases.

I might install this soon on my forum. Because hey, I like keeping up to date with the latest beta versions of vBulletin products.

go modify all your vb 3.7.3 templates then update and let me know how many of them need reverted please :D

It's okay, and seems to be working so far. Although again, just a plain old search box would be nice (for PMs).

bit by bit we're going to have it... i suppose we will have it for 3.9 .. lol

and then 4.0 will break all our work because a complete different OOP!

In testvb, the upgrade from vB3.7.3PL1, vBBlog2.0.0Beta3 went smoothly, no problems.
Had to re-add access to vB iGallery after required revert of the navbar template.
Lost (they disappeared) all MGC Evo Chatbox chat in both the General and Team channel, but, the mod itself still works just fine.
Had to re-install Change Thread Prefix InlineV2.0.1; it was causing forum lookups to bomb.
vBImage Resizer's HighSlide doesn't seem to be working correctly/as it did before.

3.8 looks quite snazzy! Me thinks I might have to upgrade... :)

the links in admincp under socialgroups(left side) dont working......

I just downloaded on my test site and nothing really different that warrants a change from me! I'll stick with 3.7.3 level 1..

Why would you want the admincp different?

ACP changes would come with 4.0 when ever that comes around.

3.8 is not a step towards 4.0, rather a version of 3.7.x. 4.0 is supposed to be completely rewritten.

vbulletin has more bloat than a black forest gateau.

working fine for us, only postbit-legacy needed reverting, all mods are working as intended :)

Running great on my forums, I never knew how handy Quick PM is. :D

vB needs a feature that will reset polls and allow re-voting!!

Why because they never upgraded? LOL I guess it would be smart to use the version that vb.org uses LOL

come on people, go take a nap, and read about releases... they are upgrading because people like you are always complaining that it miss something here, something there...

yeah, surprised at how many never read! "latest stable version" means the one to use without problems. if you like to play and participate, use the latest Beta version! duhh....:erm:

I like to use the latest Beta version so i can find out what works and what don't. at the time i am using 3.8.1 and finding out alot of mods are not compatable. so i will play with them.
