Upgrading from 3.5.7 to 3.7.3 PL1

I have just performed the upgrade on my test forum before I go ahead and upgrade the live one.

Does anyone have any recommendations about how to go about this successfully once the forum itself is upgraded?

Would it be best to uninstall all the add ons then install new ones? Some of my add ons aren't compatible with 3.7.x and they haven't released an update for them, so should I remove them completely?

I've created a new default style as I couldn't see any of the new features for 3.7.. Would it be best to copy this and customise the copy?

My current live forum is www.puntosports.co.uk/forums and the test forum is test.puntosports.co.uk/forums

I need to get the test site looking like the live site but with all the new features of 3.7.3.

Recommendations please as I am far from good with this kinda thing. Luckily my host is and he's been helping me a lot but I don't want to push it.

Thanks,

Chris

Some modifications may work with 3.7, it is best to just test them one by one and see if you encounter problems. If you do and there are no updates, your only really option is to uninstall them.

You will need to "re-customise" the default style (or update your old style) to work with the new features in 3.7 vBulletin.

So if I download the style from my live forum and upload it to my test forum it will take on the customisations for 3.7.3?

Yep I know that, but I have 89 templates to check. That's quite a lot.

Yup. :)

33 now :)

Deleted some styles I no longer use. Down to 2 with custom templates. How do I know whether its OK to revert the template?

I know the forms hack no longer works due to that security token thing. This is a pain as that’s an important mod. I need to look in to fixing it.

I can’t find an updated version of PM workbench and that doesn’t work.

We no longer use GARS as it was pretty rubbish.

I've been told that a few of these add ons are included with 3.7.3 so I can uninstall them, which is nice :)

Form hack is quite popular so you may find a fix in the modification thread.

Yeah I found the code I needed to add which worked perfectly :)

I'm getting there slowly. got some of my add ons upgraded. uninstalled some old ones and found replacements. Finding it a little difficult finding out whether there are new versions of some for 3.7.x though.

All part of being a Forum Admin :D

Sometimes its better to upgrade vB as it comes out instead of waiting for big jumps. Especially if there is no experienced to help you out.

Yeah I know. What can I say, it's been a busy 2 and a half years lol.

Would anyone else like to recommend some add ons?

I also need a good advertisement banner system.
