Google Chrome VS Internet Explorer 8 B2 VS Firefox 3.0.1
Which one you think is better?

Mazinger 09-03-2008 04:02 PM

I tried all of them then decided to stick with IE6.

Hitterman 09-03-2008 04:04 PM

Are you using Windows 98 [SE]? I just installed IE8 and its FaNtAsTiC!

legionofangels 09-03-2008 04:05 PM

I've never even seen Google Chrome yet. I guess I'll go look for it.

Hitterman 09-03-2008 04:10 PM

Its a new Web browser by Google which is still in Bets testing. Go to Google.com and you''ll see a download link.

Fireproof 09-03-2008 04:27 PM

www.google.com/chrome

I really like it - very simple, streamlined, and a lot faster than the others (I haven't tried IE 8). It's a good start, especially for a beta.

Hitterman 09-03-2008 04:30 PM

It is fast because it has very few add-ons.

iogames 09-03-2008 04:30 PM

Hehe... I started my thread on Google Chrome no because I wanted, but before a newbie came all excited to announce Chrome like the latest thing on the world...

How can u compare? is just 24 hrs old? where's Opera? Safari?

Zachery 09-03-2008 04:56 PM

I don't like the EULA.

AdrianH 09-03-2008 05:13 PM

Tried Chrome............ YUK! it is more an Alpha release, happily gone back to my Opera browser.

I don't like it either ,nor the amount of outbound traffic while I tried it. I have Kaspersky 2009 on 2 machines here and it went apesh** with Chrome on board.

Brad 09-03-2008 06:47 PM

Firebird 0.6 ^^

Wayne Luke 09-03-2008 09:18 PM

Chrome doesn't even compare to Firefox 3 or Internet Explorer 8. It lacks integration with web services or the ability to customize your experience to make the web fit your needs not the other way around. The fact that both IE8 and FF3 can interact with Google's applications without me having to visit them on a regular basis is a testament to the failures evident in Chrome.

Been testing Chrome a little bit to see if I can find what's missing and what the hype is about. Will only visit Google's own sites while logged out though just because of the user tracking that is embedded in the software. So far I haven't found anything earth shattering or "Knock my socks" off wow. Cool Iris (Piclens) is a "wow" application that isn't possible in Chrome.

Ohiosweetheart 09-04-2008 03:35 AM

It's not fair at all to try and compare it with IE8 or FF3, as it's still in beta and probably will be for a while.

btw, I hate FF3. It did nothing but crash, and freeze my computer. As soon as I uninstalled it and re-installed the latest version of FF2, all was well again. ff3 needs alot of work still.

Shaliza 09-04-2008 09:18 AM

It is WAY too early to even compare Chrome to Firefox & IE. You need to give it some time first.

PoetJA-1975 09-04-2008 09:31 AM

Opera :)

RedeemedWarrior 09-04-2008 10:41 AM

i like ff3

ofcourse being a computor nerd i had to try Chrome.

my review

Fast and Boring

kinda like a star wars movie on double speed:P

Kinneas 09-04-2008 11:55 AM

Too early to tell.

I'm mainly using FF3 at the moment. Trying out Chrome now. IE8 is installed but only really to test site compatibility. I'm just generally not keen on IE.

It's beta -- only just released. Give it time -- they'll improve it. What's the point in bloating it all?

Hitterman 09-05-2008 09:02 AM

It seems that most of the people use Firefox. The only thing which is not good in Firefox in the Graphics display quality.

choccyclaire 09-05-2008 11:47 AM

I seriously cannot do with my firefox! I don't think I'll ever switch.

KTBleeding 09-05-2008 03:08 PM

You would think that with most of you being (at least novice) web developers, you would use and take advantage of the developer plugins for Firefox, and not even give Chrome a second look as it doesn't have them at the moment. IE8 comes with developer tools as well, but seriously.. It's IE, and I'm not holding my breath for it to be any good.

Whatever. For me.. Chrome is not "faster", but it does use a lot less memory. However, I have tons of memory to spare.. so what is the point? I'll stick with Firefox, and continue using the tools that I use to make my life easier.

Chrome has light years to go before I'll actually switch from Firefox.

edermix 09-06-2008 04:44 PM

Firefox in Head!!!

;)

Guest210212002 09-08-2008 02:15 PM

/me uses Maxthon

TigerC10 09-09-2008 02:43 AM

Why isn't Opera in the list? Its STILL the only browser that supports webstandards. Well, I haven't seen Chrome (too big of a security risk for me).

Actually... credit where it is due. Webkit's built-in debugger and element inspection is just as good as that with Firebug. This is included with Chrome.

Again, IE8 comes with very good developer tools without having to use Visual Studio. The Javascript Debugger will help a lot of developers I suspect.

All three browsers seem to be about par here in my opinion.

Maxthon is just a user interface on top of whatever version of IE you have installed on your computer. Its not really a true browser.

Calash 09-10-2008 12:57 AM

Firefox for home, IE6 for work.

Out of all of them I prefer Firefox at this point. Chrome has potential, as does IE8. Given a few months of updates they may catch my eye again.

Hitterman 09-11-2008 11:28 AM

I just uninstalled IE8 B2 because it was still having many Bugs.:(

What kind of bugs. I haven't experienced anything major so far. However websites that contain a lot of workarounds for IE6 and IE7 behavior or those that aren't coded properly do no display properly in IE8 due to is stricter compliance to standards.

That's nobody's fault, but IE's. However, a lot of people "hack" IE6/7, and that is terribly wrong. If one fixes their site to work in IE, and it's done correctly, there should be no issues with newer versions of IE to come.

It is too bad though, that most people don't follow Hitterman and uninstall IE. Go with something that doesn't try to set its own standards, and make my life/job easier.

Chrome has a lot of missing features and IE8 keeps crashing Vista. When it does work it is VERY slow.

Still nothing can compete with Firefox. Opera comes in a close second place.

MrFlicks 09-12-2008 10:51 PM

I have it - Google Chrome that is - and though have found it a little buggy whilst in beta it loads pages on sites like MySpace much faster than Firefox - like a previous poster I have not downloaded the latest Microsoft IE yet

gfxhelp.com 09-13-2008 01:42 AM

I'll consider trying chrome when it runs on my machine without crashing after a few minutes lol. I will say that it's fast though...

I'll second that.

Floris 09-13-2008 12:20 PM

My browser is not in the list, FireFox 3.1.0 Pre-Beta nightly builds.

vbuser99 09-13-2008 05:14 PM

Considered chrome for a day, it felt like I was using IE5.
Nothing can replace FF3 for now with all those great plugins ie. Firebug cant do without them.

09-13-2008 07:50 PM

Opera

Did you uninstall Beta 1 before installing Beta 2? IE doesn't upgrade between betas and the old beta is most likely causing the instability.

utahraves 09-15-2008 01:27 AM

I work for Microsoft - I love IE8B2... you just have to use the compatability feature to make sites look like IE7 again... i've never used the Chrome (and don't plan on it) and I've never been a fan of firefox...
