What kind of blue screen do you get? Usually there is a message and a stop code. There is usually something like 0x000000__ where the last two represent an alphanumeric character.

we do not have Blue Screens on Mac, so i do feel anxious for you... but there are resources on this planet... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death will help!

btw, you do not have to post on all resources site to have your answers... i see on google that you visit all sites related to forum softwares and you post the exact same thing for the last 2 or 3 days... we call this trolling... sorry but you are tracked!

example:http://www.smfsupport.com/support/ge...-t20656.0.html

google: "Lucas A33"

A shot in the dark without any additional info...

If you have a USB printer attached, and the Bluescreen (BSOD - Blue Screen Of Death) happened during bootup, try disconnecting the USB printer, and rebooting. That causes BSOD's in some cases.

I haven't had BSOD since Windows 98 0_0

I'm kinda curious about why you picked to ask about this here? We are a vbulletin support site, not some computer support site. I'm not saying you aren't welcome to ask your question here, but I just don't know why here?

Reinstall & learn to make backups... I do repair computers almost everyday...

Very good advice

It may be quicker to fix by salvaging your data and reinstalling Windows ;)

Upgrade to Vista... haven't seen a Blue Screen or had a crash since I purchased a computer with it installed. That was a year ago. Well actually I think my last blue screen was in the summer of 2004.

On XP, they are most often caused by out of date device drivers. Updating your device drivers regularly will keep them away. Its most likely your video driver but sound runs a close second.

reboot will usually solve it
or google the error you see like mentioned above
or install linux and never see the BSOD again

09-03-2008 10:13 PM

How do you install linux? Whats the link?

nexialys 09-03-2008 10:38 PM

google it, because there is a ton of distro ... search "linux distribution" ...ubuntu is popular

Wayne Luke 09-03-2008 10:40 PM

Probably should go with something like Ubuntu if your new to the Linux scene.

I really... really don't want to sound rude.

But if you can't figure out and fix a simple BSoD, I don't recommend running Linux. Even the easier ones like Ubuntu. Seriously.

And for future reference, you have got to post more information. Do you get a BSoD, then a crash, does your computer still boot, apparently safemode still works, that's a clue to help find the answer. Also, as stated, get the error code and google the hell out of it. If you don't find an answer within 10 minutes of googling, I would be shocked.

Good post. Even with the ease of use in Ubuntu they are still lagging behind in hardware support, although most of it is not their fault. Linux is frustration unless you tailor build a machine to run the OS on, most are not in that situation.
