Google Chrome

Please post your opinion for the Release of Google Chrome and don't take it out of proportions [i.e. No the World wouldn't end :D]

Well I think is like stabbing Mozilla :( since they rely on them for long time...
Besides I tried to work like I perform everyday and still take me out of the loop, lacking some functions, and shows everybody my visited sites  and doesn't respect the hierarchy of my Bookmarks, maybe I think too lineal :p

p.s.I saw Yahoo do the same, grow from an amicable Search Engine to a complicated site

nexialys 09-02-2008 07:57 PM

their logic is great, don't have a Mac version yet, i like what they think of the apps though... but not the multi-attitude/applications as plugins...

projectego 09-02-2008 10:36 PM

I've been using Google 'Chrome' browser for the past hour and already I'm sold. I love it! I'll be migrating my Firefox bookmarks first thing tomorrow morning and making Chrome my new default internet browsers. :)

cheat-master30 09-02-2008 10:41 PM

It sounds good from what I hear, but I'm just gonna stick to Firefox.

ExTincTi0N 09-02-2008 10:56 PM

Well when it comes out in final version I will use it. But not when its in beta xD.

Digital Jedi 09-03-2008 01:06 AM

Great, something else to code for.

iogames 09-03-2008 03:48 AM

Oh-oh!
Chrome doesn't use:

Ctrl+Enter = .com
Shift+Enter = .net
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Enter = .org

It's like Bill Gates with all his money can't buy an iPhone! :D

cedced 09-03-2008 09:59 AM

Google Chrome zoom feature as firefox 2.0 :D

AdrianH 09-03-2008 10:17 AM

Crash,crash,crash,crash........................... ..

Looks good in some respects but as it stands it is useless in a busy environment.

The imported bookmarks got split into 2 folders with a selection of sites spread accross the folders in a random order, they also failed to connect to the correct URL which is quite a trick.

Can't help thinking they would have been better developing things alongside existing browsers/developers instead of trying to own the internet .

Brad 09-03-2008 11:27 AM

Sounds like they need some more data to mine. I'll be steering clear of it.

Edit- If you're going to use/try it you're probably better off using the open source version: http://code.google.com/chromium/

Ziki 09-03-2008 12:14 PM

Another browser to optimize HTML and CSS for.I don't think it was a good idea to start this project,as most people will always use FF and IE.

Brandon Sheley 09-03-2008 12:20 PM

I downloaded it, and was going to install it buy my kaspersky said it was a trojan :D
I'm good with FF, my net speed is great so I don't really need a slim browser

Princeton 09-03-2008 01:32 PM

I'll take a guess and say that it's mainly for their Android product(s) - mobile and appliances. (small footprint and download)

SEOvB 09-03-2008 01:58 PM

meh just something else to collect "annoymous" usage data stats about internet users as if they didnt do enough of it already.

I agree. With as much advertising as Google pushes on website owners, this browser is the perfect avenue to force advertising on all pages you view through there very own browser.

Maybe. Or maybe this is there way of getting the advertisements to actually load for a change.

that too, I guarantee there will be no "ad blocking" software available for it

Inzvestor 09-03-2008 07:54 PM

Plain and simple so far - the real test will be in the next week when I try and put it through its paces

ericgtr 09-03-2008 08:05 PM

The "Inspect element" feature is very cool. Just right click on any word and choose it, especially helpful for digging around for CSS tags.

Wayne Luke 09-03-2008 09:15 PM

Not enough form or function. Would work for quick browser on underpowered machines but really doesn't empower the next generation web. The system doesn't even interact with their own services natively. Definately not on the must have list for me. Both Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 8 are much better applications.

Chrome doesn't bring anything new to the internet at this time.

They already said that they will be removing that from the Chrome agreement and applying the new agreement retroactively. However they still admit that they will use Chrome to track your movements on the Internet and store 2% of those movements for internal use.

Digital Jedi 09-04-2008 12:43 AM

Oh great, more fodder for conspiracy theorists.

PoetJA-1975 09-04-2008 12:58 AM

Meh - I didn't like it very much - too minimalist with very few customization options for my liking. I think the ultimate browser would be something that offers the end user a wide variety of customizations right out-of-box and definitely be easy on system resources.

What Google Chrome is missing IMO:
  • Bookmarks ordering manager to easily order bookmarks
  • User customization (ie ability to order toolbar placement)
  • Options to import settings from all installed browsers
  • No full screen mode?!?!? :-/
  • Address bar with option to add separate search
  • Feeds integration would be nice for new "streamlined" browsing
  • Integration to check Googlemail would be wise (aka integrating Google features)
  • Integration to track adsense and other google-only implements (analytics, etc...)
  • An optional sidebar to easily access bookmarks, downloads, history, etcetera would be nice
  • More options to customize site-specific preferences (ie show images, block popups, etc...)
  • Additional options to customize the ugly, blocky & waaay different appearance https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/
  • A better way to store website passwords and such whilst keeping browser integrity safe

I do like the speed of browsing - it is quite quick loading pages. The privacy feature is interesting and novel - but seems incomplete... I sort of like the look of the tabs up top - but most will probably hate it LOL --- It's an interesting beta - but there's just so much missing IMO......

I like that Google is taking a chance by introducing the Chrome browser - With a few additions implemented and a wider embracing of user-specific customization - I think it's a possible winner.

Wow -- considering it was only released a day ago, I don't see why you're all complaining. Seriously, I'm sure they'll improve it in future beta's. It's like Google itself, though, clear, easy, and plain -- great!

Bcuz we see the life backwards ;) you see it forward :p

I'm really disappointed of the media, they are supposed to be more technical-realistic minded than us... and most of the articles I have seen published out there is just cheerleading!

1. is a Beta
2. good Speed.
3. Not in the league of IE/FF/Safari
4. Google turn itself in a Commercial listing site...

FleaBag 09-04-2008 09:46 PM

If you don't like the data collection, remove it from the source when it is released and compile your own build. Or download someone else's, I'm sure it'll come with time.

I don't see you guys complaining about Google monitoring your data when it brings visitors/revenue to your sites. ;)

Just responding to the thread my Dear :)
Possibly Google reads the interesting comments made here and implements the suggestions I've personally made and it makes for "clear, easy, and plain -- greatER!" :D

Yep - so true... We all love google adsense clicks and the monthly checks... But consider - Possibly the monitoring can prevent a terrorist attack as well bwaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaaaaa!

Perhaps they care about the average Joe who is less likely to do such things and very likely to buy into the hype.

Brandon Sheley 09-05-2008 04:07 PM

it still shows up as a virus on my machine :D

i hope more and more users will use chrome
having crome on market a webmaster can be sure that adsense is not blocked whit things like ABP

iogames 09-27-2008 05:13 AM

I think it will grow faster than we've ever seen, but my bet will be that for years will remain second to FF...
and I hope no MSN nor Yahoo try to buy FF :)

p.s. Anyone want to bet on this? ;)
