Yes, It's finally here! vBulletin Members Area is a member management system for your vBulletin Board. It has the following features:

• Seperate Login System
• Downloads
• Product Purchases
• Help Desk
• Licence Upgrades / Renewals
• Extra Licence Options

We have a working demo here
But I would suggest checking out the vBulletin Members Area for a demo.

Due to the product having a seperate login system, your forum login will not work. This makes the modification more secure and will allow for you to delegate what users can access the mod.

How to install

IMPORTANT: Please make sure you have a user account at NewModifications before you install this modification. The modification uses a user authentication system, which makes sure you are a valid member and everything is installed correctly.

Step 1 - Register at NewModifications and access the member area. Click on "I do not have a customer number / password" and then complete the process for a LITE licence.

Step 2 - Upload all files to your forum directory in their relevant paths

Step 3 - Import the product product-memarea into your Admin CP

Step 4 - Input your Customer Number, Password, Licence Number and Authentication Code into the install script.

Step 5 - Delete vbma_install.php from your AdminCP directory after installation has completed

Step 6 - Setup Usergroup and Administrator Permissions

Installed :D

Miscellaneous Options

Do NOT remove the copyright from the code without purchasing a branding free option for your licence. Support will only be given at NewModifications.com

I can't discuss the pro here, you will need to talk about that on NewModifications, but it won't go pro until vBMA is gold :)

Sorry if I'm sounding stupid here, but I don't think i get what this actually does.

Its the same as the member area on vb.com - allows you to sell products to your members and they get a licence and the options to download / edit their licence details - literally the same as vb.com

Its a major modification for vBulletin. It's basically the same as the vb.com and vbadvanced member areas; check them out!

Just for a note:
When the GOLD version comes out some features will be remove becuase it will be the LITE version.

Could you add iCredits interigation?

Like, people can use points to buy things? Or use them as discounts?

We are in the process of making our own credit system specifically for the integration.

If we were to have permission from vbCredits, I would probably look at getting an integration with vBCredits too :D

We are making sure there are no errors in the beta and then we will go gold, so all dependant on errors, it could be tomorrow or the early part of the week :D

You should really try doing that thing with vBCredits. Also will this be like a store or w/e were i can sell name changes usertitles etc?

Can you link a forum account to the payment account?

We are looking to have user title upgrades available with this in the future. Soon, there will be a lot of things to do via this that there will be no need for payments.php

though it was a bit confusing and no direction to your site to get the lic info i had to search for that option for about 15 mins..i have it installed on my test site till it goes gold.

Do you have an ETA on the vBCart at all yet? I would be interested if this was available soon, I know of another website releasing a cart system this month, both of which look very nice on features. I'm looking to sell digital downloads, and this product looks ideal.

There's no ETA as such, although we will try and get it out as quick as we can. Now we have finished with vBMA, we can start on the cart system and focus all of our time onto it.

Luckily, we have a lot of experience with E-Commerce, so we should get it done fairly quick - the hardest part is getting it to all integrate with vBMA, as we will have to release a new version of vBMA for those who want the cart integration

What's up with that? why would vb.org allow a mod that requires you to make an account somewhere else to install it on our server?

i agree, are we all going to start making mods which requires users to boost our own site membership numbers!

At least in the vbma_install.php most tables being created are missing a TABLE_PREFIX. This might lead to problems on boards that use a table prefix.

As for the other people, I am not boosting membership numbers, it is simply a verification and validation system. This way we can check that no one is removing copyright and in fact, they own a licence.

I noticed this in the install file - strange why some are there and others are missing - this is why I haven't installed it yet. Simple enough to fix, but I guess thats what you can expect from a beta release.

BTW, I use table prefixes on my main board, so I can easily find various tables for scripts I have installed within the same database.

This is true. I was meant to be releasing this script about 3 weeks ago lol, but adding extra features has pushed it up. I guess I have just forgotten table prefixes - will definately get this added into the new release.

I can see where you're coming from with this, but surely it shouldn't be on a free public release modification. Many people wouldn't know where to look to find the coding to remove copyrights, okay there maybe some out there.

Personally, I release modifications on here which are also free (I place the trust in people not to remove copyrights used) - and I state that no tracking code has been used within a modification.
I only enforce 'tracking code' and copyright protection within commercial products which I can then check are being used on the correct domains.
Even vBadvanced do not enforce people to validate their installations of their free portal, so it is understandable why people are thinking otherwise on this modification.

I'm in the process of speaking with Larrysw to see if there is some other way that we can enforce this without having people register.

It works out better for them if they do register as that is where support will be given. We have project tools and can keep an eye on everything in one place.

I dont think you are allowed to share your vbulletin members area password.

and I have not intend to upgrade it to the newest version

It has not been tried in 3.6.8 so if you would like to install it on a test board and report back to us, then that will be very much appreciated.

That isn't. That's the customer number and password to access our modification. We have made it similar to vb.com, so it takes the same types of customer number and password - all configurable in the ACP

Sorry but the administrators have discussed this and have decided to remove this mod due to the above. We feel this is trapping members into having to buy the pro version at some future point, and this goes against the spirit of free modifications here at vb.org.
