Olympic Games Live UK Only

With the Olympic Games officially opening on 08/08/08 I decided to throw together this product which a embedded stream to watch the Olympics live.

The stream is supplied from the BBC website and i've used an iframe to pull it to embed in my forum, see the demo for more informtion. The Official Ceremony is at 1pm GMT 08/08/08.

My intentions of making this for me and my members was for work times and most of my members are from the uk.

Installation is very simple and no template edits are needed unless you want to add a link to your navbar. It automatically adds a link to "quick links" Full instructions are included.

Demo: http://www.whatsyourview.net/olympic_games.php

This was thrown together in minutes and is very first product so go easy on me!

If the response for this is good then I will update and expand it with schedules and break the links down into languages etc.

UPDATED:
Embedded the stream so its viewable on your forum as you can see with the demo.

UPDATED 1.2:
embedded the stream from bbc website so commentary is in english and stream is stable.

To upgrade simply overwrite the old files and overwrite the product in admincp, no need to uninstall.

carlos54321 08-08-2008 09:30 AM

Thanks fella now gonna try it out :)

F0xy 08-08-2008 09:36 AM

no problem, don't forget to click install for the updates ;)

dadoc 08-08-2008 09:49 AM

Sounds like a great idea
I will be looking into it
thanks FOxy

carlos54321 08-08-2008 09:54 AM

uninstalled as a few links lead away from my site and not opened in wmp it would be cool if it opened in a player on the page,But for the amount of time it is going to be on i dont know if this would be worth it,
I think with a little more effort put into it there would be a use for it for my members and forums.keep up the good work ill keep watching for any updates you may do:)

TimberFloorAu 08-08-2008 10:38 AM

perhaps integrate this with radio and tv mod.

Not downloaded, but marginally interested, albeit some dodgy links.

soundbarrierpro 08-08-2008 11:20 AM

Interested, but as stated above some links re-direct away from my site. Some also request to save. Any way to make this with embedded player with links to play direct on embed player?

jlew24asu 08-08-2008 11:35 AM

cool. installed.

Fanny Annie 08-08-2008 12:32 PM

Its as easy to embed the player and stream into the announcement....

like this...
www.tabletennistalk.co.uk

F0xy 08-08-2008 12:32 PM

updated the mod to embed the stream and also lists external streams so members have a choice. At the time of posting the stream embedded was showing the opening ceremony, i may need to update this tomorrow with further better streams as it starts showing live events so be sure to click install for updates ;)

WFZ 08-08-2008 12:36 PM

Absolute Awesomness!

WFZ 08-08-2008 12:40 PM

Could you please make this mod so it will fit on a dark background.

Thanks.

nick-harper 08-08-2008 01:28 PM

Is it possible to make the English stream the default one?

feed just went dead :(

marc2005 08-08-2008 03:49 PM

Hi F0xy,

an Off Topic to this mod, where have you found the live stream address? In which website? I just want to watch the games. :D

The ARD Sending is different from this live stream, but this live stream also has a ARD Logo on it. I'm confused.

readjono 08-09-2008 11:01 AM

Is it possible to modify this hack? I run a website linked to BBC Radio 1 and so I wouldn't mind being able to post the BBC videos into forum threads. For example:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/summer/2...o/video3.shtml

Is that at all possible?

my hack is designed using iframes and css and it wouldn't really work with posting videos in threads
