Change Display Order for Show Groups (Forum Leaders)

This modification allows you to change the order the groups are displayed in on the Show Groups (Forum Leaders) page (showgroups.php)

Installation is as easy as importing the XML file and then visiting the Options group to set your preferred order.

Enjoy!

Changes
v 1.1 - Clarified wording in Admin options. No need to upgrade from 1.0.
v 1.2 - Fixed bug when displaying Moderator Block and Moderators Usergroup. Made ordering usergroups in options easier.
v 1.3 - Fixed bug (introduced in 1.2) that caused incorrect display of admin options.

Thanks! An annoying problem elegantly solved!

Great small but useful mod. Thanks.

Sym0n 08-05-2008 06:03 PM

Sounds good. But I have a question. If I don't include a usergroup in the ACP does it then not show on the forum leaders page?

davide101 08-05-2008 06:11 PM

Sym0n, in order to display on the View Leaders page, you must set the group id in the product options and that usergroup must have Show on Show Groups enabled in the usergroup permissions. If either condition is not met, that group won't be displayed.

Simply adding <!-- Order="1" --> to the usergroup title does the same thing !?

Actually, this modification *only* changes the order. If you don't include a given usergroupid in the Admin options for this mod, but it is set to "display on forum leaders page" in the usergroup manager, then it will still be displayed (in alphabetical order) after any usergroups that are specified in the options. So this mod only affect order, it will not keep any usergroups from being displayed. I have changed the wording in the Admin options for version 1.1 (That's the only thing changed.)

Yes and no. First of all, this is easier, since you don't have to change the title for all your usergroups, and second, this modification also allows you to change where the moderators block is displayed. Otherwise it's hardcoded at the top of the page.

Koroku 08-05-2008 11:51 PM

Why is this not default?

THANK YOU. I can finally get rid of the numbers in front of the usergroups...

01 - Administrators
02 - Sub-Administrators
03 - Super Moderators

It looks so bad... :D

ShawneyJ 08-05-2008 11:54 PM

works great but normal mods do not show, it shows what forums they are modding but does not show there group. Moderators

It works fine for me. It shows a table with "Moderators" at the top, then a list of usernames in the left column, the forums that they moderate in the middle column and the contact info in the right column. Can you give me a link to your forums where it's not showing correctly?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Just wondering if it would be possible to exclude the default moderators from showing on the forum leaders page in the next version?

The reason I ask is that on our forum we have a moderators usergroup which comprises of global moderators, they are site staff. We then have, at present, one person who only has moderator rights over one section of the forum and isn't classed as staff.

Whilst your product works flawlessly I would like to be able to remove the default moderators table from the forum leaders page without having to hack the showgroups template.

Thanks again.

The Default Moderators Block can be disabled by changing the "Forum Leaders" General setting to "Yes, but disable moderators". In version 1.2 of this product, I've made it clear how to disable that.

Can you elaborate? And include a screenshot?

EcoCav 08-10-2008 04:21 AM

I am having the same problem with this. It will add its self to CYB's advanced forum rules, and you can not save or update either one. Here is a screenshot.

Sym0n 08-10-2008 06:15 PM

Yep I'm getting the same under the advanced forum rules settings, see attached screenshot including error message.

*Edit - Just noticed that this is now also showing under 'default registration options' in Vbulletin Options in the ACP. Screenshot attached.

sockwater 08-12-2008 03:29 PM

Thanks to ssslippy, EcoCav and Sym0n for reporting this bug. It is fixed in v 1.3.

Sym0n 08-13-2008 06:09 AM

Thanks for the quick fix sockwater. Working beautifully.

It very well might work in 3.6.8. You are free to try it and report back if it worked or not.

Barteh 01-08-2009 09:30 PM

Confirmed to work for 3.8.0 :)

OU812 03-25-2009 09:37 AM

Possible to make the groups collapsable?

abdulbasitsaeed 04-19-2009 02:57 AM

Thank you very much for this product. Works perfectly with version 3.8.1. :)

Kayden 07-09-2009 09:40 PM

Works great for 3.8. Awesome.

abdulbasitsaeed 07-29-2009 10:59 AM

I seem to be having a bit of a problem with this mod.

I have enabled the "Forum Leaders" option with moderators in my vBulletin options. However, this is how the page appears (see attachment too).

The detailed moderators block is enabled. For some reason, it seems that this usergroup isn't taking up the template around it (please notice the absence of the surrounding curves) and it also shows a "contact" column whereas it doesn't show it for ANY other usergroup.

Do you think you can help me out? :)

Do you see this problem when viewing your forums with the default vB style?

abdulbasitsaeed 08-03-2009 03:57 PM

Yup my friend. Tried that too, thinking that the custom skin may be the reason behind it.

Customize the showgroups_moderators template to match your current style.

Thank you, this rules so hard. SO amazingly simple to use. <3
