Please use $platest for manual template insertion.

Updated

helpmehost 07-17-2008 11:14 PM

some thing is wrong it does not show under forum

Michael Biddle 07-17-2008 11:16 PM

That helps me help you in no way at all. Please be more specific.

schlottkej 07-18-2008 12:39 AM

When you select "Under forum" as the display location, it doesn't display. (is what helpmehost was saying) and I have the same problem...

schlottkej 07-18-2008 12:40 AM

where do you add $latest? I

Michael Biddle 07-18-2008 01:25 AM

You add $platest the forumhome template.

Michael Biddle 07-18-2008 01:31 AM

When it is going under their it is looking for this comment line in the template

<!-- what's going on box -->

If that is not in the forumhome template, then the auto edit will not work.

ahmedeldeep 07-18-2008 01:47 AM

thank you

Brandon Sheley 07-18-2008 03:46 AM

schlottkej 07-18-2008 03:58 AM

TitanJeff 07-18-2008 06:01 PM

Very nice.

Is there a way to remove the title bar entirely?

EDIT: Figured it out. ;) Thanks again.

MrAd 07-19-2008 05:56 PM

a very good hack, thanks alot. Installing was easy.
But I have a little big problem:
Quote:

Exclude Forums - Choose what forums you do not want to be listed
I have 178 forums on my board and want to show only 1 of them in the hack.
Is there a way to make it easier and faster, beside of adding all 177 forums into the exclulde field?
Maybe adding a new line (form) into the hack so you can add "include Forums" and not only "exclude Forums"

Michael Biddle 07-19-2008 08:27 PM

If you only want to include one then you can edit the 'main code' plugin that is added with this addon. Find:

PHP Code:

WHERE post.visible '1' AND thread.visible '1' AND open '1' AND $platest_and AND $platest_and_1

Change to:

PHP Code:

WHERE post.visible '1' AND thread.visible '1' AND open '1' AND forum.forumid

Where x is your forumid.

Great, thanks for your quick help, Michael.
Dont want to become a pain in your a**, but now I have another problem:

I want to use this hack as kind of advertising and this means that I want to show the latest x posts from a forum, which is not accessable (not visible) for normal users. They should see topic-titles, but not the content of the post. Is there any chance to make it work?

Michael Biddle 07-20-2008 09:41 PM

Well if you set the cutoff to 0, then they will only see the titles. The change above will not include the forum permissions, so all will show.

MrAd 07-21-2008 07:01 AM

As admin I see other latest posts than a normal user.
Example: I´ve a private area and only one usergroup (specials) can enter this area. If I now setup the hack to exclude all other forums so that only this private area is using the hack.
The result is that I (logged in as admin) see the latest posts (topic titles) in the private area, while normal members see nothing.
So the hack is using the forumpermissions of the different usergroups.
-
What I have in mind is to show the latest posts from a specified forum, no matter if the members have the permissions to enter this specified forum or not. As I have set the cutoff to 0, they only can see the topic title and if they click on such a link, the board-software, depending on the usergroup-persmissions, will either show them the topic or give them an error-message

Michael Biddle 07-22-2008 05:27 AM

Like I said, the fix above will not use the forum permissions. It will show to all.

MrAd 07-22-2008 07:58 AM

sorry I was a bit next the track. Got it now and it´s working like a charme.
Thanks alot for these fantastic hack.

luffy 07-22-2008 08:34 AM

helloo ,

how to show the prefix thread , and (tag+attachment icons)

thank you

TitanJeff 07-23-2008 09:21 PM

I don't know if this can be done but what if I wanted to make the title of the threads in bold?

Thanks.

Michael Biddle 07-23-2008 11:02 PM

You could edit the template forumhome_latest_bit

Find:

HTML Code:

$pthreadtitle
Replace with:

HTML Code:

<strong>$pthreadtitle</strong>

TitanJeff 07-24-2008 02:00 AM

That took care of it. Many thanks! :)

marsneedswomen 07-24-2008 02:19 AM

Wheezy 07-31-2008 12:20 AM

This is great! Thanks for sharing :)

shotkey 08-02-2008 02:30 AM

Installed and Works Great.

Would like some help in changing the template to display the following: delete "Forum" and "Author" info and replace with "Last Reply" and "Replies/Views".

Deleting the existing "Forum" and "Author" code is not a problem - need help with the new code to replace them with the "Last Reply" (date) and "Replies/Views" (counts from the posts - how many times viewed and how many replies). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

calvert 08-04-2008 07:50 AM

Great hack, but just a little question from my side... what do I have to do if I would like to also have an highlight on the latest posts if they're new?
Or for example - if I would like to have the thread icon (I hope you know what I mean?) in front of the latest posts?

WFZ 08-04-2008 01:44 PM

Installed.

marsneedswomen 08-04-2008 04:32 PM

Is there no way to use this on the 'showthread' template? I tried adding $platest to showthread, but it doesn't work. Is there some technical reason this can't be done?

Also, my question from earlier (which others have asked since) :

Michael Biddle 08-05-2008 04:05 AM

The technical reason is that it is only to be shown on the forumhome template.

trigatch4 08-18-2008 04:00 PM

I am REALLY hoping to include a column for the post icons... can we get any help on this Mr. Biddle?
