No option to upload custom avatars in ucp
Hello
I cannot seem to find an option to enable avatar uploading in the UserCP. Is it because I am showing up as unlicensed? |
You are currently licensed, and have a custom avatar.
|
note to myself: unlicensed members can't have custom avatars...

no, a hint of stupidity... if you want to know what unlicensed customers have access to, just create a new account... ;)

Hey... avatars are important to this guy. What can you say? Maybe that's the only reason he joined. |
Its unfair that unlicensed users have access to nothing, at least give them an avatar, where then will they have any dignity.
|
ok, so for you, the human have no dignity if they have no avatar... lol funny
also, this site is not for general chatting but for licensed vbulletin owners for sharing and support... if you are not licensed, you have merely no use to visit this site, so why add privileges this way ?! |
Yeah pretty funny. Just posts look more organised, clean, smooth and adds to the depth of the boards.. I think.
|
just write interesting content and your board will be smooth, have more depth and will be organised.... spams and trolls with an avatar are not more interesting to read.
|
Wow. This thread is still alive?
I used to feel that no one should have access to vbulletin.org unless they pay for the license, however, SLR722 has convinced me otherwise. How about from now on, we only give visitors access to an Avatar and nothing else? That only seems fair. SLR722 is 100% right. PS - I think we should set up a poll about this issue. -------------------- Quote:

This is a very big issue to pull up with the vb.org staff
Users that are unlicensed who visit vb.org are asking pre-sale questions or just viewing stuff. Why should they get anything? |
I am now a licence vBulletin member and just put my forums online! So you can stop stressing all! Caliph is online!
Moderators can lock this / |
Oh no, please do not lock it, it was so much fun to start playing with!
|
I agree. This avatar issue is important and needs to be addressed.

I like sarcastic communities. *Looks to the left*
|
the community is not sarcastic... there is only 3 persons here who are permitted to play the game of stupidity... and we are on the edge of permanent ban each day...
|
I don't want to steer away from the topic. This is an issue that effects many people and we're lucky that SLR722 was willing to bring it to our attention. I still think we need to make a poll to see what other people think.
|
hum, personally i think a poll have no place for this here... the more you give the availability to a feature for guests, the more they will request more features...
this site is for LICENSED vBulletin OWNERS... period. and this was not sarcastic. |

Hey, we're only talking about an Avatar. It's not like the world is going to end if an unregistered user has their own Avatar. Plus, it might be good PR for vb.org. I'm not saying we enable anything else... just the Avatars. That's all SLR722 really asked for. |
SLR bought his license 10 minutes after complaining about his avatar... and then updated his avatar.... SO, why would vb.org have to comply to SLR-like users who will anyway buy their license to use the site?
|
SLR didn't want unlicensed members to be treated like 2nd class citizens anymore. I think we should be sympathetic towards his feelings.
As SLR stated, "Its unfair that unlicensed users have access to nothing, at least give them an avatar, where then will they have any dignity." He just wants unlicensed members to get the respect and dignity they deserve. If all it takes is an Avatar to do that, then... why not? -------------------------- Quote:

Sorry, but no permissions are going to be changed. :)
|
No wonder I've been getting no respect around here!
*goes off to catch oneself an avatar* |
Hey Opserty, here's one avatar i found to have your name on it: http://i47.vbox7.com/a/opserty_abd766fc_1.jpg
|
Awwwh...
*adopts avatar* I think it will be an excellent disguise, whilst I prepare my plans for a takeover. Muhahah! :D |

Oh well, it was worth a shot. :p |

/ To you. I had my licence for a long time now, and I said originally I was not showing up as licensed and that are non licence members here not allowed avatars, three minutes after my post vB.com updated the API and vB.org recognised I was a member and enabled the avatar upload form. So not 10 minutes. Quote:
All members should have all privallages on here except source code, and downloading modifications. The avatar feature is a standard feature on loads of BBs and gives user his alias, online identity. |
You know, if you are not happy with the permissions given, you can always try to start a similar site and bring 25000 active members to be managed peacefully with 10 volunteers... you would see why there are restrictions...
the problem with most suggestions made about vb.org is that they can be easily applied to a small forum of 100 members... not with the size of this site. because usually, the persons who are suggesting have no idea how can be a mega-big forum. |
Good point. But you assume many things. New members may have forums with over a million posts.
Stop posting here now. |
if new visitors have forums with millions of posts, they will understand how the admins her feel when people require too much for no reason.. they already face that situation on their sites...
|
An answer has been given and there is no real reason to bicker about whether or not it should be suggested or not. So this thread is now closed.
