Warning for windows update & ZoneAlarm
Not sure if this warning will be in time to help aynone.
If you are running Windows and ZoneAlarm, you might find yourself unable to access the internet after (autaomatically?) installing the monthly security patch from MS. For some reasons the latest update from MS does not work together with ZoneAlarm. Solution: Disable ZoneAlarm or set internet security to Medium (default = High). |
Marco is now part of Micro$oft Spam Team... lol
|
On a similarly related topic, you can't install windows live messenger on SP3 without registering a dll via the command-line. And who says windows isn't user-friendly ;)
|
what you say ?!
Oh, windows... ok, i can figure it out with hand tied... just have to Ctrl-alt-F4 |
I really wish that more things were supported on Linux.
|
Yup, confirmed. I just set my Zone Alarm setting to Medium - but would advise anyone against updating until a fix is released. This update is only for XP, SP2 and SP3.
More info: *** link removed *** All info available on the ZoneAlarm support forums On another note, I absolutely hate MS bashers. They seem to think it's a sport. If you're not happy with Windows, then use Linux. Just hypocrites. They diss it, but they're there happily using Windows. Hmm.... |
actually, Windows is something cool to bash about, Jase... stop complaining about the sport, it's a cool and refreshing one... count how much bashing videos were made about Windows compared to the ones for Linux, or even OS-X... and the quality is more constant regarding Windows... there is no gap in time where you have to stop bashing it.. lol
|
Then you're an hypocrite. How is it cool? If you want to bash it so much, why use it? ;)
The amount of Microsoft bashing that goes on, while folks happily use their software always strikes me as a little peculiar. If you really don't like MS, go use Linux. :p |
i'm an hypocrite with an Apple designed on my computer... you talk too much Jason.. lol
|
Ah right, my apologies. But seriously, I don't get this MS bashing at all. Maybe they have some kinda tournament? :p
And, you can never talk too much. ;) I would rather talk too much, than hardly talk at all. |

I agree wholeheartedly. About Kaspersky, that is. :) Another good one is Avast. Here's some recommended Security Software: *** Spam link removed ***
I also advise against AVG now, and many of the Security Experts on online computer forums do too. Oh, and never purchase NORTON. You will regret it. Your system will appreciate it anyway if you don't. ;) |
Nice way to get your link in Jase ;)
|
Huh? Just trying to be helpful...
|
I like bashing Windows server and Vista, but I say Microsoft should go back to XP and just forgot Vista. I rarely have problems with XP.
|
If you do not buy Micro$oft products, obviously you are running un-supported products. LOL~! I bought 1Care @ Costco for $10 for a 3 year subscription. So, as long as I have a non-annoying pop-up it is worth it to me.
|
I only posted this as a warning for those that had not ran into this problem yet. Once you have this problem, you will not be able to access the internet to search for a solution.
As it seems that nobody can stay on topic in this thread or only see it as an opportunity to spam their own websites, i am now closing this thread. |
