I just tested it on my site and it shows up fine in postbit_legacy using the manual template edit method.

macc 07-08-2008 04:45 PM

hello!

What kind of help do you need? This option is there to allow more customization of the location then the default location that is done using the template hooks.

eddy315west 07-08-2008 04:52 PM

Thanks Will Give it a Try

i use styles with both postbit and postbit_legacy!

will use this mod on both postbit templates -

The auto template editor should work for both postbit types. The manual template part of it is there for advanced users who know how to manually place things to customize the layout of their pages.

I have already confirmed that this mod works on both postbit templates using the auto template edit method as well as the manual method. Note you may only use one method at a time so if you use both postbits at the same time and wish to use the auto template edit for one and the manual template edit for another you will not be able todo this. You will either have to use auto for both or manual for both.

tafreeh 07-08-2008 06:41 PM

is it possible to make this show onlinetime only to admins and mods in postbits ... i dun wanna show it to everyone..

can we do that ???

btw... very excellent mod.... i was gonna req this

Ideal Web Tech 07-08-2008 06:57 PM

You can do that for the postbit using the manual template edits and an if conditional. For the profile some custom code would be required due to the nature of how its setup there.

KURTZ 07-08-2008 06:59 PM

hey mate, there is an uncached template here ...

Ideal Web Tech 07-08-2008 07:08 PM

Yea I knew I was forgetting something earlier. I will release an update with the templates cached a bit later. (Im still in the hospital right now and was on a strong pain medicine earlier when I was finishing it up so)

madmax1228 07-08-2008 07:10 PM

Added, but I don't see it......could it be due to my custom themes?

Ideal Web Tech 07-08-2008 07:23 PM

It relies on standard vbulletin template hooks your style may not have these.

Does your profile page have the mini stats block? If so that by default has the hook in it that was utilized. The postbit if your using an outdated style that has just been ported up without properly updating it with the new template hooks and stuff may not have the required template hooks.

Yes, I see it in the Mini Stats just fine....am running 3.7.1 on all 3 sites, and I really like this mod, just can't see it anywhere else.

I will do some digging a little later to see what my issues are.....for this mod, that is!LOL!

In the settings for the mod theres an option to disable the automatic template edit which will enable you to use the manual template placement variable that it mentions in the option description.

Ideal Web Tech 07-08-2008 08:22 PM

I have updated it and fixed the template cache problems.

Definitely user error...ME. I will have to brush up on my skills a bit, only been using vBulletin for a few months.

Ricsca 07-08-2008 09:16 PM

Good ;)

madmax1228 07-09-2008 11:53 AM

I was able to get the phrase "Time Spent Online:" into the postbit, but not the actual time. Could someone post the actual code they pasted into the posbit?

Sorry to be a NEWBIE PITA, but I really like this mod......

if you turn of the automated template edit option in the options page for this modification under the vbulletin options system it will enable the variable listed in the description that you can use to call the same stuff that gets added in using the automated template system. (phrase and time spent online information)

This variable is $timespentonline (note this variable will only work if you disable the automated template edit setting as there is no need to have it available when we are automatically placing it into the templates.

Ideal Web Tech 07-09-2008 01:43 PM

I have noticed another small bug with this that I will be fixing later today hopefully. Its minor and purely a cosmetic bug in regards to the output of the time when after all the hours minutes ect have been calculated and their is 1 second left (it shows N/A instead of 1 second).

Koroku 07-16-2008 10:27 PM

Cool!

SMF or some other free forum has this, and I think it's a lot of fun, and was kinda missing it using vB.

Yay for no longer having to miss it :D

fattony69 07-16-2008 10:36 PM

I think this would cause my members to leave after seeing how long they have spent, but none the less very awesome mod.

pspmaster93 07-20-2008 09:26 PM

It doesnt have any ability to track information from before it was installed.

The programmer for this modification has been dealing with some things that have been keeping them from getting the one cosmetic bugfix out yet but it should be released in the next few days.

Chris583 07-22-2008 04:09 PM

It shows up on userprofiles but I haven't been able to get postbit to work through auto-template or manually entering $timespentonline

Running 3.7 Gold

It only tracks when you are moving around during the cookie timeout after that when you hit a page again it will start tracking again. There is no way for it to track past the cookie cutoff and be close to accurate.

If the auto template edit doesnt work then your templates are out of date since it utilized a template hook for its output. The manual variable that can be used will only work when you have the auto template edit disabled and the variable to use is listed in the options and works on all versions of vbulletin 3.7.x

merlin_de 07-24-2008 07:07 PM

Ideal Web Tech 08-14-2008 05:41 AM

Sorry for the lack of support on this our lead developer for the company who is the one who made this modification has been dealing with some personal stuff and has a surgery upcoming in the next week and hopefully will be back to releasing updates for this modification as well as implementing new features.

Just be patient and things should start to shape up hopefully in the next few weeks. He did inform me that he is looking into the idea of adding an avg online time to this modification soon. (time spent per day) as well as a leaderboard so you can see who spends the most time on the site total and per day.

TilkiBey 08-28-2008 10:01 AM

we re waiting still...
will u update ur addon?
