Can this be a bot error?

I get these every now and then and I don't think it is the host as they have been real good at not throwing these errors at me. I don't have a user with that name so I am thinking it is a bot. Does anyone know why it would do this other than the standard reason? The IP seems to be from Bangkok.

I have a similar problem at 11:37 pm everyday due to the cpanel server package updates. It restarts MySql. Are all your messages at the same time everyday?

Boofo 07-02-2008 06:19 PM

Nope, only at wierd times and not even every day, but always with a post trying to be made by a user that I don't have.

Please see this thread for all possible causes: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43505

First, that is from 2002 and things have changed quite a bit since then and second, I can't read.

noppid 07-02-2008 08:28 PM

Actually it still applies exactly per the MySql 5 manual for both versions of the error name and number.

Is it always the redirect of a guest trying to post that throws it? Have you tried this a a guest if so?

You're really a grouch old *explicit removed*. :D It's like 2004 still. What's up with that?

Boofo, where are you getting this log from?

Boofo 07-02-2008 08:38 PM

That is the email I got for the error.

@noppid - I have never gotten those errors even once on 3.5.4 or below, which is what I was at before I did a fresh install of 3.7.0 beta 3. What I meant was that vb code has changed, not the error meaning.

I was only messing with Jase2. It was meant as humor, although it seems I need to work on my routine a little more.

As far as being a grouch, I'm entitled. ;)

Try: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/t...mysql_goneaway also.

I know. I was poking fun back at ya. I don't care much whatcha say, I'm happy for replies to my posts. :p

Its nothing to do with the vBulletin scripts really, its to do with the MySQL server. See if your host could shed some light on it? (Maybe they can check their logs around the time you get the error?).

Read the link in post #9 too.

Well, they had to change something between 3.5.4 and the 3.7 series as I never got them before. I was just curious as to why it only happens with users that aren't really registered when they try to post, which leaves me to believe it is bots. I'm wondering what they are doing to cause it. I got the gone away errors on my last host like mad. I haven't had any here except for these weird ones. I searched the net and found a lot of links about the error before I posted, but I thought someone here might have run into this with bots. Thanks for the links, though. ;)
