2 Suggestions for the tagging system (NOT THE 3.7 TAGGING SYSTEM)
 

The tagging system that exists here has the potential to become a great feature for vb.org that would help most of us organize our workflow in a better way.
However, its implementation makes it so disturbing to use, that its sometimes easier to just click on "Installed", even if you haven't actually installed the mod.

I have 2 suggestions about it, that I believe would make it much more usable:

• AJAX tagging of modifications, just like clicking on "Installed"
• Levels of tagging. For instance, the levels could be:
  • May consider installing, if it improves
  • Will consider installing later
  • Will probably install later
  • Will definately install later

What do you think?

i think the whole tags system is actually useless if used only to categorize threads... i don't see why it would be used on vb.org if we already have the prefixes system... it is one or the other... and as coders always tag their stuff with random keywords, that would lead to nothing.

I don't mean vb3.7 tagging system, but the one currently exists here to mark mods as tagged!
Just go to any mod's options and you'll see it.

I aren't too bothered about it, but as a Community - I vote yes! :)

Not everyone tags things because they have an interest in installing them, either now or in the future. :)

Then why do users tag it?

I tag mods for reference later on but having to get into settings is a pita. Would like to see it just like clicking installed.

I subscribe to threads and download them, just to get a ping when they are updated. Often mods are not bug free or need some more functionality before I install them. It would be great to have a 'May consider installing, if it improves' tag that alerts me when a mod is updated.

The tagging categories I suggested in the first post were only that: suggestions!
If there is another reason that people tag mods, it could be added to the list ;)

Yes please! I tag things a lot that I come back to later. It'd be nice to have that AJAX selectable like "Mark as Installed".

There is zero chance of "levels" being added to tagging - its a simple bit field and will remain so - you will either be able to tag a mod or not. If I get chance (and remember) I will look at adding Tag/Untag to the main post (where the nominate/installed links are) as it is somewhat hidden atm. This will not be until we have moved to 3.7 (but may come as part of the upgrade).
