Thank's a lot for the link :)

It would be great if the admin can set for certain usergroups that able to view.

Also, can this mod put an image banner ?

Deviation 06-24-2008 10:44 AM

I'm not sure what's going on with the screenshots...:confused: I'll try to upload them again here shortly.

I'm not sure what you mean. You can use an image as a banner. Or you can use AdSense

okhissabigfish 06-26-2008 04:18 AM

I sent a PM to the fact that the banner links created after the page is viewed are broken. Suggestions? And...I wanted to ask if when clicked will the browser open in a new window by default? Nice Mod.

Suggestion: Allow the placement of a banner at the header and footer with this mod from Admin. Or does this mode perform that function? I missed it if so...

euro2low 06-28-2008 04:18 PM

i get this message when someone clicks on the link for the sponsor... i followed all the steps

"
Warning: require_once(./global.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/e/u/r/euroe93/html/vB.Sponsors/link.php on line 32

I also had this problem...To fix it, you need to do this (taken from the documentation website):
Quote:

1. Open upload/vB.Sponsors/link.php in notepad, wordpad or similar editor.
2. On line 30, enter the path to your forum. This is the physical path not the URL. If your forum is located in /usr/com/userid/forums/, the path would be /usr/com/userid/forums/.

You can. If its not an "active banner" (meaning you can't click the animation) it should work fine.

That's pretty much the answer. If you are having issue like that, it HAS to be the path you put in. Double check it. The slashes at the beginning and end are important.

Anyway for an Update of this wonderful Add On to allow Sponsor Ads on Header nd Footer of Forum?

RedGTiVR6 07-02-2008 12:40 PM

if this mod included the ability to add side banners (skyscrapers) it would be sweet.

the advertisement management 2.3 mod seems to not work right and we're looking for a solution that does it all.

The ability to set viewing per user group would be sweet as well.

okhissabigfish 07-05-2008 09:18 PM

Is anyone having the issue of broken links? Am I missing something? I've set up for text only sponsorship. Added the links in Admin. Added the name in Admin. Clicked the appropriate checks for not showing banners, etc. The ads show on the forum heading, but when clicked the link pulls up an error message.

Confused.

?

schlizzag 07-15-2008 01:37 AM

seriously.. no installation instructions still? the site has been down since last thursday.

great Mod

But how can i remove the text that says

Forum Sponsored by:

I need to remove this because with a fixed forum width it disrupts the forum image I have to the left because there is not enough room to fit that text and another image

My Forums so you see what I mean

Thanks in advance

I'd love to get this installed over on my new server & board, but the installation documents link is broken. Does anyone have a copy of the install docs lying around or know where I can find a mirror?

Still broken here, however I got the mod working by doing the following:

1) Download and extract the zip

2) Open the link.php file in upload/vb.Sponsors in notepad

3) Find the line that reads:

chdir('/path/to/forums/');

change this to the path to your forum on your server and then save

4) Upload everything in the upload folder

5) Import the product XML as normal

This will give you the product and from there you can configure etc, however it won't display anything on forum pages. To do this you need to do some template edits. On my site I did not want to sponsor banner to be displayed on forum thread listings (as I use the 3.7.x ad location templates for this) I only wanted them on the forum indexes so:

1) Edit the "forumhome_forumbit_level1_post" template:

Find:

Code:

<if condition="$show['subforums']"><div class="smallfont" style="margin-top:$stylevar[cellpadding]px"><strong>$vbphrase[subforums]</strong>: $forum[subforums]</div></if>
                        </td>
                </tr>
                </table>

After the "</table>" paste in

Code:

<!-- vBSponsors -->
                <if condition="$forum[sponsor_enabled] == 1 AND $vboptions[sponsor_global_enable_sponsorship] == 1">
                        <div style="float:$stylevar[right]">
                        <if condition="!empty($forum[sponsor_adsense])">
                    $forum[sponsor_adsense]
            <else />
                                $vboptions[sponsor_global_default_text] <a href="vB.Sponsors/link.php?f=$forum[forumid]" title="$forum[sponsor_name]" target="_blank">
                                <if condition="$forum[sponsor_banner_enabled] == 1 AND $vboptions[sponsor_global_enable_banners] == 1">
                                        <img src="$forum[sponsor_banner]" alt="$forum[sponsor_name]" border="0" />
                                <else />
                                        $forum[sponsor_name]
                                </if>
                                </a>
            </if>
                        </div>
                </if>
                <!-- / vBSponsors -->

2) Edit the "forumhome_forumbit_level2_post" template:

Find:

Code:

<div>
                        <a href="forumdisplay.php?$session[sessionurl]f=$forum[forumid]"><strong>$forum[title]</strong></a>
                        <if condition="$show['browsers']"><span class="smallfont">(<phrase 1="$forum[browsers]">$vbphrase[x_viewing]</phrase>)</span></if>
                </div>

After the </div> paste in:

Code:

<!-- vBSponsors -->
                <if condition="$forum[sponsor_enabled] == 1 AND $vboptions[sponsor_global_enable_sponsorship] == 1">
                        <div style="float:$stylevar[right]">
                        <if condition="!empty($forum[sponsor_adsense])">
                    $forum[sponsor_adsense]
                <else />
                                $vboptions[sponsor_global_default_text] <a href="vB.Sponsors/link.php?f=$forum[forumid]" title="$forum[sponsor_name]" target="_blank">
                                <if condition="$forum[sponsor_banner_enabled] == 1 AND $vboptions[sponsor_global_enable_banners] == 1">
                                        <img src="$forum[sponsor_banner]" alt="$forum[sponsor_name]" border="0" />
                                <else />
                                        $forum[sponsor_name]
                                </if>
                                </a>
            </if>
                        </div>
                </if>
                <!-- / vBSponsors -->

The mod creator has also provided a template for adding the sponsor details to the top of forumdisplay (with threads) in "forumhome_forumbit_level2_post.txt", I assume this will work the same as the previous edits so look for:

Code:

<!-- vBSponsors -->
.......... some code here
<!-- / vBSponsors -->

And add this in the relevant place in your "forumhome_forumbit_level2_post" template

Doing all this seems to work for me, having said this I might have missed a critical step but without the actual docs it is impossible to say.

Doesn't look like it, it seems that when you define a banner "image" this is placed into a standard img tag.

My links are not working. When you click on the banners it takes you to

http://www.norcalmotocross.com/forum.../link.php?f=42

It never redirects.

Nevermind, my bad.

I forgot to edit my links.php file to reflect the path to my forum

RrCoX22 12-21-2008 06:16 AM

what about the columns? how do you create such a box and add content?

BobbyDiesel 12-24-2008 04:47 AM

I wish your web site worked so I could read the instructions.

l3it3r 01-06-2009 09:51 PM

Got it working under threads by adding the code to the Show thread template below the navbar and adding some centering code to it. Thanks a lot!

It works. Some of the links had to be moved around courtesy of a Drupal upgrade.:erm: And of course there's the recent moving of servers for the third or fourth time. I've lost track.

Anyhow...

Not sure if this'll work for you, but Once you've setup your banners and enabled, turn off the product.
