Dependencies

This Mod is an port from https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=130662. It is a mod for vBa and needs vBa installed to work. With the vBa-integration-method this mod can be displayd on every vBulletin-Page.

What does it do?

The mod shows a List with all logged in users on the right or on the left of the current page. The users are shown with avatar or profile-pic, sorted by activity, friends and buddys appear on the top.

Installation:

Install the module in vBa:
- admincp
- vBa --> add module
- choose the module-file (xml)
- the needet php-file will be created automatically. Two templates are inserted.
- Define in vBa where you want to have this module shown up

Then define your settings in admincp --> vBa --> edit Module --> Users Online:

- Size Thumbnails is the maximum-size of the pictures
- Truncate Usernameis the maximum number of letters that should shown in a username. If the username is longer it will be truncated.
- Display pictures is an option to just show the users Online without photos
- Display myself is the option that you can hide the actual user. Should the user, who is online, see himself in the list?
- Linkback --> you can turn off the automatic Backlink in the module, but I kindly ask you for a backlink in the footer or somewhere else, just as a thank you.
- Backlink Option: If you have a german website we can use the affiliate-system instead of the "normal" backlink. Sent me a PN when you?re interested.

PS: I kindly ask you to remember the backlink to www.nlp-deutschland.de (Key: NLP). I really need it in the moment and I totally agree with a small backlink in the footer or something like that.

FYI: I´m not the coder. It was a paied modification, that I think some other webmasters will also love. ;-)

Addition:

The Username links to the User-Profile. Beside the username there is a direct PN-Link, there is a Pager-Link and if the user is not a Buddy there is an "Add as a Buddy"-Link.

imagine if u have hundreds of users online - can u supress the list some how ?

Does somebody have nice grafics for that which can be used (GPL)? Then I will put them into the Hack.

Give me some more details ... where does this happen? Extracting the zip? Uploading the xml?

Where in the admincp did you try to upload the xml?
Do you have vBa installed? Did you upload it as a module or as a PlugIn?

I don´t remember where I´ve got them from. It can be possible, that they where in any paied extension, and in that case it would be a problem.

On the other hand ... they are not too nice. I guess, one of the users here can easily built/find some better grafics, then I would also like to use them and integrate them in the Hack.

Reading is an Opportunity:

Reason for having it in vBa is, because the side-block is not so easy to get into the regular vBulletin. In vBa you can easily integrate something like a "frame" around vBulletin, and if you want only put this Hack in. That means: You can have it without having vBa shown anywhere else (exzept of the admincp of course).

I don't get it, are you suggesting me to install vBa and not to show it anywhere so I can use this mod?

This hack would be nice if someone can port this over to VPORTAL, not everyone uses Vba.

Well ... it?s easy: I use vBa and this is the Module I use. I invite everybody to use it for free ... but my needs are to have it "easy". The easiest way to do that for my opinion is with vBa. vBa is easy to install, works brilliant and gives me the chance, to show this list on every vB-Page I want.

If somebody wants to use it without vBa the question is: How? If you just insert a new template it would not appear in a side-box. Sure, there are ways, but I think they are getting much more difficult then using vBa.

When somebody prefears to have it without vBa feel free to change the hack. But I cannot offer you more then I have: I have it for vBa. To use it without vBa you will need to make it on your own. ;-)

Exactly that: It?s not a plugin and it?s not a porduct. It?s a module. When you want to install it as a plugin or as a product ... you will get an error-message. ;-)

I don't know how to install it as module. VBA accepts only php files as module, if I use this xml file I receive an error on my frontpage and nothing works anymore. oO

sorry for asking that question: Did you follow the instructions?

vBa doesn´t accept php files as modules. If you "Upload a module" you can upload ".module" and ".xml"-Files.

In the instructions it says "Upload module", and not "create a module". If you create a module, it needs a php-file. But when you upload the xml as a module, the xml will create the php itself.

Oh ok, now it works. I've tried to add this as a module, not to upload it. Thanks.

AdminCP-> vBa CMPS -> Download / Upload Module -> Browse to useronline.xml -> select the style you want it applied to -> Save

Hi, I think this is a great mod, however, I am having a little problem with the width of the box and with it's contents. It shows the pics just fine but other stuff not so fine. Need to know where to look or edit to get other images to show. :confused:

I would love it if there is a way to limit the amount of members that it shows online, perhaps for it to show 10 random logged in members?

I think there is a little problem with this mod. If your buddy is invisible, he will not be displayed, despite the fact that you are an admin. The default buddy list module and the online user module do show that buddy.

How can I change the sort order? Is it possible to sort like this?

first all online-Buddies (no matter whether they have avatar)
then all online-users who are not buddies (no matter whether they have avatar)

On small boards the list looks unsorted. I just checked your site. It does not look like the sort order you have written. All users have avatars, but there seem to be 4 different groups. :confused:

As far as I see only some adjustments are necessary, for example fetch_template must be replaced. Unfortunly I`m not experienced enough to change it...
