Remove forum rules step from registration
I'm not sure why anybody would want to do this, but it was requested.
All this mod does is remove the forum rules step from your registration. Simply install the product. This mod is not supported and it's code can be reused without my permission. |
Although this is appreciated, one step further would be to actually find a way to move the rules to the page where you fill in your details.

Thanks for this, :)

And I gave permission. |
Doesn't this just do an automatic acceptance of the rules? You should notify the user that they have accepted the rules. Could cause grief later if they claim they didn't knowingly accept anything.

If anybody posts anything similar I'll remove this mod. I don't even have it installed on my own forums. It was requested, and instead of just providing him link to download it I posted it here in case others wanted to use it. |
No thanks, I don't need it. I was just pointing out that if someone auto-accepts the rules and they break them later on, you have the proverbial catch-22 situation in place.

Thank you. |
-> Boofo you could install the "Force users to read thread" mod.
Anyhow downloaded and installed |
Why use 2 modes to do the work of one? I like it the way it is by default. ;)

Listen... if a webmaster installs this hack, they are not going to be in a "catch 22 situation" later on. They know that the rule step was skipped, and they obviously wanted that or they would not install this. What makes you think this is going to cause problems later on? Do you think the webmaster is going to foolishly forget he installed this and legally go after a member who did not follow some rules they never saw? Who legally goes after members for breaking forum rules anyway? Please.... we understand that you do not like this mod. Either take the code and do something that makes you happy and I will delete this one, or unsubscribe to this thread. |
thx, very much

this is great!

This might be a stupid question regarding the topic of this mod, but how can one alter the forum rules in the forum rules step rather than remove the step entirely? I am sure that no two boards will be alike and everyone will want to have their own custom rules set into that step.
If there is already a mod for what I am asking, then I must ask if it is compatible with 3.7.X? |

If you have the TOS and the disclaimer in place the forum rules is an added step which no one reads. For me I wanted to skip it because I use vmail - and it is very easy to forward the forum rules in the vmail email.
One step less and the forum rules are in their inbox. Mention that if you continue registration you accept the rules. |
nice hack thanks :)
|
thank you very much
|
The forum rules are generic and no one reads them anyway. It's pointless and just another step from getting them to the page you want them. The rules are very clear on our forums to anyone who registers. That's enough for me.
Thanks for this. I didn't get the notification when you responded to my request thread but it is appreciated |
Thanks for that...
|
Thank very useful, no one reads the rules anyway..
|
nice hack thanks

Author, this hack seems to be broken in 3.8.x, could you find the time to fix it?
