NEW ALERT BBC v3.5 RELEASED!
These create different types of alert boxes in the forum, its a good way to display your rules or warns to the members within a post.

(Optional)To make this a staff only bb code, please refer to this modification.

The issue has been resolved and updated to ver 1.5. Thankyou for your report.

I have added a new attachment, its the button images. It has 3 button images, 1 for each type of alert bbc. If oyu wish to use any of the 3 button images go ahead and download the Button Images (optional) attachment.

looks very nice indeed.
though I have a request, I want these codes to be only used by usergroup 5,6 and 7
in other words, I don't want my regular users using these BBcodes.

Can you let me know, how to do it?

not sure, I use this myself and I just make my own name for these tags and dont postthe bb image nor tell the users how to use them. Il take a look into that though, also I have allowed ( Re-Useable Code ) others to use this, so if anyone wants to attempt that request go ahead.

I also in my forum rules explain that the 3 alert boxes are for strict staff use only, And I dont put the bb imagess at all. I am fairly new to coding anything for vB, I have doen some in phpBB in the past, so if theres any BB Codes heer that do basically what your request is, if they allow Re-Useable Code go ahead and point me to it and ill see what I can do with this one.

well it seems pointless if the users can use it as well..

besides, wont they see the bbcode when they quote the post in text editor anyways?

yea they could, but see this is a standard bb code, and im fairly new for vBulletin stuff, phpBB is not exactly the same. But with well placed rules settup users if theyve read them will know not to use them, I know when I use this on my forums, all my users know its a staff only allowed bb code and they dont use it.

Well I speak from experience, not everyone tends to follow site rules :)
Hence it would be best if you can find a way to add permissions for these custom BBcodes, which will allow us to set the permissions per usergroup.

yes they can, once the quote the post, they'll see the BBCode, hence my request for usergroup based permissions.

well there used to be hack in 3.6 that used to do that.

Gusy I gave the wrong version of the bbcode permissions, heres the latest one and it works really well

All you have to do is edit the permissions for the groups you dont want to have the ability to use this.

Because of adding this, the avatar in the pm area, doesn't show.
It is blank, though the avatars in general forum shows normally, this issue is only in the pm area :(

Are you allowed to host images on imageshack and then use them on your own vb site
(curious to know, because the buttons bb code, says about imageshack)

Yes they were hosted on imageshack, I can however so peopel can change their images if they want,im gonna release a new version with the images and instructions with those images.

There has been a updated package, please refer to the "Alert BB Codes v2.0 Full Package (HTML Readme Included!)" for everything, it includes a upload folder whic hcintains the bbc buton images, the bbc images in the code, and a html readme I created that should ofer plenty of assistance.

As always pelase let me know of any bugs or issues.

Attention! I have had to fix a litle issue for those with a http://www.example.com/forums/.. directory so now theres a vers 2.1 (fix) for download. If you have yoyr vb in the root dir of your site dont worry then. I have also added a new BB code in that fix and seperatly as well, its claled Attention, I have added a screenshot for it and the downloads enjoy! :)

Well everything seems good now, if theres any more addons ill just uplaod those seperatre from the package and let you know.. :)

To all of those who donot wsh to use the <style> tag things in the bb codes, follow these directions I have provided on how to use the bb codes and not have to add the <style> tages in each one.

First in the replacement section of the instructions, scroll down till you see the <div> Tags. Copy that entire section and put that in the replacement. then go to the following area

Admin Panel > Style Manager > Main CSS > Additional CSS Definitions >

and in that second box add..

Now See I dont get what you mean, this is just a bb code in which you post in your messages. thats all it is. lol It is very usefull like some people said, heck before I posted this I used this alot in my communites forums, heck I still do.

version 3.0 has been released! This version has a few tweaks to the code. It also features the style code being placed in the main css of the forum.

Would it be possible to have these function for normal members in certain forums, but only for staff in other forums?

These would be good for members to use in articles, but also good for staff to use around the forums.
