Different Domain, Different vBAdvanced Page
I needed this for my own site, so I though I'd make it into a product and release here. It's a variation on Different Domain, Different Style made for boards which use vBAdvanced.
If you want to show a different vBAdvanced page based upon the domain (or subdomain) name used to visit your site, then this is the hack for you. For example: If you have a Sports site - you could setup up subdomains such as football.domain.com and rugby.domain.com and have a vba page for each which only displays news, recent threads, polls etc from the related forums on your portal page whilst maintaining a common forum. Alternatively if you have a mobile sub-domain - mobile.domain.com - you could set up a vbadvanced page which only has a single colunm, and only one or two modules dislpayed for visitors to your mobile domain. *Supports 5 additional domains/vba pages different Release Information 1.0.0 - Initial Release. Marked as Beta until I get some feedback... Enjoy. |
Will use this post for any further information if needed :)

Nice!
|
Thanks i was in need of something like that.
|
nice i tagged it :)
|
Cool! I needed this.
|
how do u use it??
|
Install, Modify the options in the admincp and type in the names of domains or sub domains you have and select which vbadvanced page you'd like to show to visitors of those pages.
Make sure you only enter in the domain name, no 'http' or slashes or file names. |
this is a good one, I'm using vba but I have some issues with it, some of hacks works fine with the forum but not with vba, so I'm thinking about uninstalling it
but to be honest, this mod you have brought is very good thanks :) |
Will this use the server domain or the url? i.e. I have multiple url's pointed to the same server domain. Would this mod allow me to show a different vba depending upon the url the user is using?
|
it's based on URL
|
So does that mean that if a user is browsing to
my1st_url.com/index.php he will see vba page 1 while when browsing my2nd_url.com/index.php he will see vba page 2? because both locations are are the same file. |
that is correct
|
awesome mod!
/clicks install and nominate for MotM |
Does this address the problem of the vBA 'home' link on the mobile portal still pointing back to the main sites domain?
|
a true genius. thank you for this mod!
|
You would need to somehow do a temp change to bburl and homeurl.

My setup is slightly different. I have my forums on myforums.com -- but I want to set up vBa CMPS "front pages" on mydomain.com. It works just fine (after cleaning up the style, so that links are properly set up) except for the "Welcome Block", which does not update the myforums.com login status while looking at mydomain.com. Is there a way to fix this?
|
Update: I'm tinkering around with this add-on, and it looks like it works well, but I only want it to display/force a specific "frontpage" depending upon the domain (i.e., if no specific page has been designated). How can your plugin be modified to allow this to function properly?
|
I don't really understand what extra functionality you're asking for - what you're describing sounds like what this already does. What do you mean by "Frontpage"?
|
Great mod. Question I have is whether it is possible to maintain the subdomain once its at the new page?
So.. in my case I have war.wpguild.com but by default once it has changed it has the www.wpguild.com/<vbawarpage> Instead would like: war.wpguild.com/warpage |
if your links are all relative, I donl;t think it would changeback to www....

I have the different domain different style mod working, but I can't seem to get this one working. Here is my setup:
/index.php is the normal vb index file /shade.php is the vbadvanced file domain A points to index.php vbadvanced default settings has /shade.php as the URL to the CMPS.php file navigating to domainA.com/shade.php shows 'homepage' from vbadvanced domain B is parked on domain A. I have setup DDDVBAP to have domain B point to 'homepage'. navigating to domainB.com shows domainB.com/index.php instead of domainB/shade.php I have DDDS working. domainB.com shows the mobile style, while domainA.com shows the default style. So, I don't know why this wouldn't work. Do I need to change my forum URL for VB, such that it is domainA.com/forum, which domainB.com parks on domainA.com, which is where shade.php resides? |
It sounds like what you want is your mobile domain to directly load up your forum page (index) rather than your VBA page (shade)? This add-on doesn't do that. What I'd do is modify the adv_portal (which is teh main template for teh vbadvanced portal page) template in your moibile style, and put a redirect in to your forum page. CHeck HERE for an example
|
actually, I have a partner that is going to "blog" using vbadvanced, however, he wants to maintain his site, look, and feel. He just wants to join up with me and my forums. So, it is a merger of two websites. He is going to post via my installation, but he wants his page to have his domain in the URL and his custom theme.
