this util is what vb needs, from what thye say on there site there is no reason for it to only work with ubbs, so how about you all releasing your hacks in this format so its alot faster to add your hackas and updated hacks when vb releases new version ?

Yes I must admint, that it is a very power tool...

We can only hope either the authors of vbbs or multi hack, will consider it is a worth while project to do...

VB or the authers of the utl do not need to do anything, its really down to the cool programmers that create the hacks, this util can be used for anything so they just need to do it and its so simple for anyone to add a hack to VB, the only thing this util will probable not do is the mysql tables part, but thats simple, its adding the code again and again into the vb sorce whenever there is an upgrade.. this would save loads of time

i emailed the programmer about his cool utl and this is what i got back

from what i see of this program there should not be any reason why we could not use it now if the hack creators would add it to this, i think only the uploading would be a problem, but for now who cares, just as long as we can use it manually until he adds VB support

but i hope you and the others will take this util on board so we can use it

Currently as the program is still in what I consider the development
stages it does not support anything other than UBB. The ONLY UBB specific
feature are the Remote Folders that are set up in the Options. The folders
themselves can be anything, the naming conventions on them are designed
towards UBB however.

I have never used Vbulletin, although I have been to the web site. Nice
software, just not something I can run with its system requirements. That
being that case, I am not sure how the setup works for it and what I would
have to do. I do plan on supporting it, just not sure when. The next
version of MultiHack that will be released is a partial redesign of the
layout, some new features and an overall cleanup of things.

If you can send me screen shots or otherwise give me the information I
need to support VBulletin, I have no problem in doing so.

i just hope someone will take it on and start to add the hacks into it, then we can pick and add on the fly, without something like this its a pain to add most hacks

It would be nice to see I guess, however vB seems to listen to their community and customers, so most hacks which are widely used are considered for future versions. What would the life span of this application be? Would it need modifying for each release? etc.

Looks nice to me. I wouldn't mind giving something like this a try to see how much easier it is to insall a hack.

this is just a program that both creates .mhk files (hack instructions) and runs them (does the hacking for you :))

I'll be trying this out, because (as evident with the delays in the Mark Forum Read hack) its a pain in the arse to compile instructions when your hack is a fundemental system modification.

Hello, I am the author of the MultiHack program. It is designed to be used with UBB, however that is only a visual design. File paths can be set to anything.

I was interested in adding in specific support for vB, but I am unable to run vB due to its server requirements so I do not know what all I would have to do. The 2 emails I have sent to the folks here at vBulletin have not been replied to.

Version 1.5 of MultiHack was just released 2 days ago, so if you would like to check it out, it has been much improved over the last version. Currently I am working on the features for 2.0 which include options to auto download the necessary files from the web server, modify them, and upload them for you. So far, all goes well.

Do you have any plans to get a test server setup so that you can run vB to do the testing you need to do? Or is that not a possibility at this time?

I've had an offer from someone here to setup a test system for me to take a look at, etc... Right now I am in the middle of some other modifications to the program so am not quite ready to add in anything else. However it shouldn't be too long. Ideally I will be adding in Template support. So the program will look and work like the selected template.

Wow, that would be quite impressive. I have been wondering if that is even possible considering all the variables that get their values from the database.

Maybe I am not totally understanding what you are saying, but still it does sound like some nice features.

With vBulletin, I'm not sure all what I would have to do. UBB is easy as there isn't anything that I have to read from UBB. It is all set within MultiHack. I'm about 25% done with the FTP stuff. Probably more but I am being safe. ;)

I have email the author and offered him free space for development work :D

Currently I am still working on all of the FTP features. Such as auto downloading of needed files, and the reuploading and CHMODing of those files, etc... I haven't had as much time to spend on the project lately due to other paying jobs, but I am still working on it.

I am going to include support for vB, or at least I plan to, depends on what has to be done. I will be taking Sommerfield up on his offer when the time comes that I am ready to begin that part of the program. Basically what I need is a vbulletin setup so I can play around as admin and see how everything works.

I'm moving slower on this version as I am trying to make sure everything is coded better, and tighter. Not to mention that some of the features I am adding are a bit larger than previous ones.

Once I get the template system in place then I will see about getting some vB beta testers to check things out for me.

Thanks for your interest in the program! Without it, I wouldn't be doing a vB version for sure. :)

I have decided to start from scratch and write a version of MultiHack specifically designed for vB. I figured this would be a better approach for several reasons
