SmoothBlue - A Alternative to my SmoothRed Style!

SmoothBlue

5/06/08 - Updated the ZIP package with a optional side column xml file. You can now choose to have or not to have the left side column.

Removed until further notice.

SillyAlien 05-06-2008 03:33 AM

SmoothRed style has the left side column. This one doesn't? Wonderful style otherwise. :)

ryozzo 05-06-2008 05:19 AM

This style is compatible with vbadvanced?

very nice!

EarnDollars 05-06-2008 12:08 PM

The color is very nice ! Can you release the same left side culumn style as Smooth Red? Definitly I will install it if available :)

Thx in advance!

markbolyard 05-06-2008 12:23 PM

I don't use vbadvanced, but I wouldn't see why not. It's not heavily modified so you should be able to use it with no problems. If you have any, just post here and I'll get you all straightened out ;)

As for the sidebar... go figure. I make themes with sidebars, and everyone wants to know how to remove them. Make them without, and they want it back :). I'll add a side column alternative and update the package. Shouldn't take too long to do.

SillyAlien 05-06-2008 01:20 PM

Thanks, Mark. The colours are awesome with this one! :)

Not to nitpick, but I think we have missing images here just as we had with SmoothRed. The collapse_tcat_collapsed is the same as collapse_tcat, for instance, just as it was in the initial release of SmoothRed. Thanks again! :)

markbolyard 05-06-2008 02:13 PM

Ok, I'm going to update this with s sidebar option and I will make sure all the images are there. I am copying them from my stock vb image directory, but perhaps in development I've deleted my own default images :(

Anyway, look for a update to this sometime today.

markbolyard 05-06-2008 03:09 PM

Updated. Also by request, see the following attachement if:

You want this style with a side column
You want this style with the standard thread / posts columns instead of the threads / posts under the Forum name and description.

Perhaps this will "wrap" this up and eveyone has what they need :)

Hey Mark, when used with USC 2.0 everything works perfect on the style with the side column, but with the no side column version, the RIGHT Column with USC is out of wack (doesn't line up under the NAV when choosing that option on USC) This is ONLY on the Forum Home page (all other pages work and line up correctly)... USC 2.0 works perfect with both Red versions. Not sure if this is something you want to look into or not. Just thought I would point it out.

btw...Love your styles and your work... keep it up bud!

markbolyard 05-06-2008 05:54 PM

If you are refering to ultimate side columns, I don't use it, but I'm sure it could be corrected with padding it could be easily corrected. Thanks for the heads up. I'm sure there will be some issues I'll have to work out as they get reported.

CrashPush 05-08-2008 11:36 PM

Editing the style width in the style var does not work. Any ideas why?

markbolyard 05-09-2008 12:00 AM

A. you messed with the style and broke it.

B. in the width you are entering in 800px (don't include the px)

I would to set it at 950. I'm entering 950 and 950px and it does not work. I use that width with all styles and it works just fine. It really is a great skin. Bug maybe?

Gluxu 05-09-2008 10:34 PM

It seems to not let me change the logo and I replaced the directory for it and it still wont change

No bug that I know of. Works perfectly fine on my demo when I change the StyleVAR to 950.

As for the logo, if you replace smoothblue/misc/logo.gif with yours, should change. Try clearing your cache. Are you using any mods that cache templates that would prevent the change from being seen immediately?

As for the text on the sidebar, I haven't looked (sorry short term memory) but it is either in the navbar, header, or footer template. Use the search template feature for that text, or part of it, and you'll see where it is.

Mark - thanks! I was in the process of converting SmoothRed to Blue ;) to see how it would look...

slmoney 05-11-2008 05:02 AM

I'm getting a Security Token error with this style. I'm not getting the error with any other style I have installed....

markbolyard 05-11-2008 10:03 AM

What are you doing when you get the security token error. I will have a look at it.

slmoney 05-11-2008 12:07 PM

Hi Mark...

I was using this mod [AJAX] Top X - ALP Pro
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...150766&page=13

I had to do a work around in order for this to work...basically deleteing it..and re-adding it. And all is well now. I am not getting the security errors.

slmoney 05-11-2008 12:09 PM

Scratch that...

this is the error I am getting:

Method Not Implemented
us to /index.html not supported.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.63 OpenSSL/0.9.8b mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 PHP/5.2.5 Server at host.themes4bb.com Port 80

Freddy.k 05-11-2008 12:38 PM

That error is not style related.

slmoney 05-12-2008 04:31 PM

ok...but it only happens on that style!

markbolyard 05-12-2008 04:49 PM

You have yet to tell me what action you were performing when you got the error. The style is modified from it's original version, so I don't know what code changes have been made.

Provide me with more detailed information, and I would be happy to try and help you out. Do you get this error when you upload the style and make no changes to it? Installed any modifications lately where you may have incorrectly added code to a template on that style?

Here is what comes up on Google search results http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...t+supported%2e

I didn't go through the results, but it seems like an apache error.

slmoney 05-12-2008 05:40 PM

Mark...

Thanks for your input. I've contacted my host (I'm on a VPS)..and hopefully they can figure out why I am getting this error.

I instealled this style with the 100's of modifications that I have installed (figure of speech...)..and it only seemed to affect the [AJAX] Top X - ALP Pro Mod...it wouldn't even show up...

I also noticed that (or I may have missed it)..that you did not have any mention of the security tokens in your templates fo rthis style. I did add one to the forum home/forum display...but it did not help.

Again..I'll see what my host reposts..

Thanks!

markbolyard 05-12-2008 05:56 PM

Yes, thats quite odd what you have going on there. The style as I have it on my test install has all security tokens required in the templates. Let me know what happens. Would be curious to know.

slmoney 05-13-2008 04:23 PM

I got it fixed..and working. Thanks!

OK..so here it is..this is what made that error...

NEVER EVER..copy the forum display code into the Forum Home code... don't ask why I did it...it was a goof.

markbolyard 05-13-2008 04:36 PM

See, and you had me pulling my hair out wondering what you did :) Glad to here you got it working.

EarnDollars 05-22-2008 06:14 AM

Hi Mark,
I want to make the header part narrow, could you let me know what should I do to resize it?
Thanks!

ShawneyJ 05-23-2008 07:19 AM

very good ;)

sdsvtdriver 05-25-2008 05:50 AM

Any chance on a "Thanks!" button for this style?

There should be a button PSD included in the ZIP file. If you are unable to edit a PSD, let me know.

Hello, Anyway how to move that Side bar from Left side to right ?? also would like not to have that Forum Information box there in side bar...

how can I achieve that ??

HappyAndyK 07-07-2008 07:43 PM

Bump !!! A week no reply !!!

markbolyard 07-07-2008 08:01 PM

I would suggest using the version with no side column, then using these directions:

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=156775

to add a right column. Since you want to eliminate the forum information box, this will allow you to put anything you want in the right column. Hope that helps.

mesdar 07-12-2008 06:01 AM

thanx

very nice

Installed

OK, I want the Forum Information Box too! Just want to shift the whole of the vertical panel from the left side to the right side. Does your advice still hold? That is 'using the version with no side column, then using these directions' or is there any easier way from the existing version itself.
