Cyb - Check If Already Posted
 

Info:
User can check if the same/similar thread already exist when posting new one. Button is shown right after the thread title field in newthread form. When button is clicked then javascript code opens popup window with search results. Entered thread title is used as search query. Additionaly you can choose to search thread titles only or entire posts, to show results as threads or posts, to search current forum only or all. You can also exclude forums in ACP, set default pop-up window dimensions,...

All search permissions (by usergroups, forums) will be applied here too.


Installation:
1. Import XML file (as product): AdminCP > Plugin System > Manage Products > [Add/Import Product]

2. OPTIONAL (for very customized styles - if button not shown):
In newthread template find: <td><input type="text" class="bginput" name="subject" value="$subject" size="40" maxlength="85" tabindex="1" /></td>
Below it add: $cybcheckifposted


To set options go to: AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Cyb - Check If Already Posted

i have seen this in some forums i have visited, its ajax though. when u type the thread title = onclick it will seach thru ajax the similar title and auto displays relevant titles. hope this one will evolve like that as well :) thanks anywayz, installed.

It is a useful mod, I get a lot of duplicate threads when there is some hot news, or a new release in my forum.

I second the idea of using ajax to automatically check, because I know a lot of users will be too lazy to click the button. There was a 3.6 version, but that had a few issues. Is it possible Cyb?

I've also seen AJAX ones. You type the title and it will begin to search for similar ones, then show the results under the title box. That would make this mod even better!

Would be nice for smaller forums I am sure. I would worry about resource usage if it did it all the time, every time on a big board.

hi i hv install it but when i test it, but it doenot show or tell whethere there is any similar threads or not. What is wrong with mod. Can u tell me to resolve it. Thanks

Agreed. I'd like it to check similar threads on submit then either post the new thread or return with a list of similar threads above the subject and the body of the new thread ready for a c&p.

my question is: how can i change the text on the button itself?

In Phrase Manager. Search for "Check If Already Posted".

This will be better if can control which USERGROUP can use the option and VIEW it . We have few sections forbidden for other user if they try use that option might able view sum of the content that forbidden for them .

Plus if posible make Check URL options too..Which have option tick to check URL if been post or not .

When I hilight the button "Check if already posted" it shows directly the drop down choices

I have one problem. We use žćšč. letters.

This come up when we search with this letters included koko??injca and must be kokošinjca, so then cant make a good search. Can be fixed.
