Youtube is a very powerful way to get your users. And if you are smart enough to make your video very appealing, many people will embed it, and it will propagate on its own. I've seen some of my videos on myspace profiles, university pages, etc.

For example, like what I did, I did a movie of 500-600 pictures of Budapest, and of course I made sure that the central pictures are from the "Budapest Parade" section =)))

Myspace is free high PR advertising.

Yeah, but who wants any myspace pedophiles joining on their website? Or all the illiterate 12 year old, ebonics typing, spam relying children?

All joking aside, I think using myspace as a marketing scheme is just a huge waste of time. It's free, sure, but is it worth it? Years back when I was a myspace user, I hated getting a million "friend" requests from stupid websites trying to become popular.

I am sort of a newb when it comes to webpages, I have my webpage, only a week old pretty much and I don't know how to get people to go register on it, except maybe asking people on facebook, that's the best I've come up with. Is google adwords the best?

SEO and related (like posting on other forums, but no spaming) usually does good for random people.
Word of mouth like was suggested is better for people who will be really interested in your forum.

In any case, you better try all options and see which one performs the best.
I put lower attention on less effective ways, but I still do it.
