Youngest vB.Org Member?

Hey all,

Just thought I'd make a thread on the youngest vB.org member.
So I'm 14, (yes young I know). I haven't seen anyone younger yet, can anyone beat it?!

-Chris.

Ha ha, nice one!

I only got interested in forums last March, when I used to run a PHPBB forum on a free host, lol!

I've come a long way since then, owning a vB license. :D

Bad thing is I get classed as a nerd at school for having a knowledge of designing websites. :(

I know how you feel. LOL. I am a geek and nerd (my french teacher figured it out, geek is tech smart and nerd is book smart), and am redoing my school's website for my grad project. And I started out at InvisionFree.

When I was 13, I was on these boards... (several several years ago) and I mainly lurked under a different screen name.

nexialys 04-26-2008 07:35 PM

you're all kids to me, that's amazing how young you all are, especially Marco and Danny... pffft

Chicks dig nerds! LOL I was around 15 when I started all these. Now I'm 30, married, with kids, etc. People still try to classify me as a nerd, although I don't resemble anything like your typical nerd (I ride motorcycles and work for an advertising agency). As long as you're sociable, it will change their impression of you. :)

iogames 04-26-2008 08:25 PM

Yes, some are young and very mature... 'some' are really old and act like child... [No, no me I got lots of responsibilities everyday] But Ziki is really young

I wonder how old Marco is? Anyone like to guess how old I am? :p

The "nerd" that comes to mind is a guy who has a horrible appearance (bad hair cut), glasses, and attempts to wear the "in" clothes. I am none of them. :p

I really think I am the youngest one here.

I doubt I am the youngest, but I'm 13. =]
And (just incase anyone asks, I get it alot..) I've been coding since I was 11.

Crap. You started before I did buy a year...

Guest190829 04-27-2008 07:38 PM

People can start coding at age 8 and still be coding like an 8 year old twenty years later. It's all about how one codes now.

But I didn't even know what a variable was at age 11 or 12...I was too worried about Cooties. (And still am. It's a frightfully uncared about epidemic. )

True. I have come quite a long way from my origins... LOL. I hated that "cooties" epidemic. ha ha.

Jase2 04-27-2008 07:45 PM

To be good at coding is a sign of a well-rounded education, to be too good at coding is a sign of a mis-spent youth.

Come on, I am 16... Staff on a coding forum, have a ton of unused code, know about 8 languages, and has moved into learning computer programming (with one application in full development).

Mis-spent youth? I don't think so. You tell me.

Jase2 04-27-2008 09:17 PM

I still stand by that, King hehe.

I'm also 16, and know a few languages. However, I would never go into a coding profession, it is just something I do purely as an hobby. :)

At 16, you should be enjoying life, going out with mates, and having a good time!

I also re-arranged my post above, it came out wrong lol.

Yeah. I am going into Software Engineering / Computer Engineering... :D LOL. And what life?

Jase2 04-27-2008 09:22 PM

That's great King and I wish you the very best of luck. I'm actually going onto an apprenticeship for Plumbing / Gas. So, I may be able to code, but I do not and will never do it as a job! :)

Cooties ?

Brad 04-28-2008 06:02 PM

(Not sure if this is only an American thing)

It's a fake "virus" that one can catch from the other sex.

Most young boys in elementary school will say you have "cooties" if you are friends with a girl. Girls will say the same to each other if they see one near a guy. Basically it's one of the many ways that they tease each other.

The whole "girls vs. boys" thing.

It's just one of them childhood things... Most of the time the end result is a guy chasing a around girl or vice-versa on the playground.

By the time you get to middle school (grade 6) the whole cootie phase has passed. :)

Hope you understood that. :p

Go ahead and make fun. I have still never fully gotten over the "cooties". :(
