This would be amazing, please someone do this. I suppose you could do it in a group chat style with an existing shoutbox thing and some styling

That's what I thought, iogames. However, the popup private messaging isn't quite the same thing.

The Popup Private Messaging hack only pops up an AJAX window to send a PM from. Nothing more.
I would much like a facebook like PM/Chat function. |

I'm probably going to add this feature to a different mod that I'm working on. There's just something else in the way of working on it, but that should be finished up soon.

How about incorporating the opensourse IM client FLEA? Looks exactly like MSN Messenger. If we can get it to hook up with the vB friends and log in, we'll be set.

Hi guys, a first version is online on my german page, english following soon! I work with jquery, so have to check that there is no conflict with the vbulletin javascript. When there is enough interest I can make a product.

http://www.kitesurfmaniac.com I tested, there is no conflict with jquery, so it even works fine on the forum! I will check a bit later on if I can figure out with session or cookies that the chat window stays open when you change the site, not want to work with iframes... and also thinking about to do a chat where you only can chat your friends (like on facebook). |

lol @ forum mongering, i was just sharing, there is a test account i just figured it was pretty pointless to post it since in order to test the actual chat you need more than 1 user on the forum interacting with themselves since it is an IM system.....

SuiCyde, it still brings up a popup for instant messaging, I am looking for something the same as Facebook where it stays down in the corner and the second you press the person name it send a instant message to them without having to wait like 10 seconds for the popup you have to load up.
