rss robot not running
My RSS has just randomly stopped working about a week ago. If i manually run the scheduled task it works fine but it won't do it on it's own.

Make sure you save the settings so you can add it back the same way. |
That didn't work. I even added a brand new one for a podcast and that is not running either. I don't know what else to do. If someone has an idea please post.
Are any of your Scheduled Tasks running? Have you checked your error_logs to see if there is an error occuring when this is supposed to be running? Have you tried reuploading the rssposter.php file?
umm.. hmm..
It seems as though all my scheduled tasks have stopped running. |
Then you probably removed the part in the footer that is responsible for making sure the cron jobs run - the part inbetween the two "<!-- Do not remove or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->" tags. Perhaps try reverting your footer template.
err, no, it's still there.
Do you have them on? What time do they say they will next run? What does your Scheduled Task Log say? Have you checked your apache error_logs to see what is there?
all tasks are next scheduled to run on the 14th of this month at differing times. I looked in my error_log and i'm seeing a permissions error for site.com/cron.php Is that the problem?
I tried to CHMOD the file to 77 but it says permission denied... The cron.php file is also completely empty. |
If cron.php is empty, then you should reupload the file because it should not be empty.
Did you do something on April 14th to the site? It sounds like that is the date the cron jobs might have stopped. I'd reupload the cron.php file and then see if things get started again. |
Please post the exact permission denied message.
Well I am running RC1 and only could re-up RC3's cron.php file. Sense i have done that the scheduled tasks still do not work but i am not receiving anymore errors about that file in the error_log. I'm also now able to set permissions for the file, they are set to 644. Still nothing..
Have you tried to run them all manually to get the Next Time to be a time in the future?
Yup. They don't. If you edit them then save the time updates but it never runs, and the time just elapses.
You have an active forum, right? (The cron jobs will only run if someone hits a page.) Make sure the cron folder has the correct permissions also.
Yea, my forum gets regular posts.
I think you need to look in your error_logs. I went to your site and kept clicking around and every single page I went to tried to run the cron.php job. That is very unusual. So, it is trying to run, but something has been done to prevent it. Either the cron.php page has the wrong permissions to run, or the cron jobs themselves have the wrong permissions, or... I'm sure there is probably another reason. But, I'd check your permissions for your files and directory and also make sure all the files are uploaded properly.
Well, this is all i'm getting right now in the error_log:

What does your Scheduled Task Log say? When was the last entry that you didn't manually run yourself entered?
To troubleshoot this, please create a new Style with no Parent set.
Now browse the forum using this new style, refresh the forumhome page a few times (let the page first load fully). Next check if your Scheduled Tasks start running again. |

Also, try deleting one of the Scheduled Tasks and then adding it again (of course, before deleting, make sure to take a screen shot of it so you know what to enter) and see if that will start it up. |
the log just has normal things in there ending on the day it stopped working with some posts by the rrs feed bot. No errors at all.
I diabled a task and manually added it again to see if it would start working and it didn't. It sets the right time in the future to run but it just never does. I diabled it because it doesn't give me the option to delete any of them. only disable.. |
