It will probably be helpful if you post some information about any modifications you are running. That could make the job more difficult for someone if they plan to help you out.
Also, you don't *need* to upgrade. I stayed using 3.0.12 until just this last December until I was able to rewrite my hacks and do an upgrade on a test site of mine to be sure everything would work. |
im not really bothered about the the modifications(hacks) on the board. i can get updated ones from here. aslong as the members are still on the board and all the threads and posts are still their.

It's really easy you know mate...
1) configure your config.php file with your MySQL settings 2) upload the new files, ensure you delete the install.php from the Install folder after you upload.. 3) go to www.yoururl.com/install/upgrade.php and that's it... I can do it if you still are unsure. PM Me. |
I've upgraded my active forum to vB3.6.9. There were templates that needed reverted then re-adding the hacks. No biggie.
I have a testvb vB370RC2 forum snapshot I'm testing out. If you can hold on go with vB370 Gold when it's released. It offers a lot of new features; is well worth the wait for it. But, as Bradley mentioned, just follow the vB upgrade instructions, granted the write-up on how to tweak the config.php is weak. ~OZ |

You don't need any php knowledge, really. It's so easy for a newbie, to set-up a database, then upload some files, and run the installer/upgrade script. I did it when I was a complete newbie to everything :)

*sigh*
not everyone is as bright as you. |
you could also purchase the proffesional upgrade system from vBulletin.com. It is like 80 dollars i think. you pay and then vBulletin proffessionals from the vbulletin team install all of the updates for you for like an entire year. I think it is either 80 dollars or 50 dollars.

If you just follow that, you will be fine. |

Moved from Modification Requests due to the fact that it isn't in fact asking for a modification.

Why don't you just leave your board at 3.6.8? It's no big deal if you do. And then you can learn to set up a test board and practice doing an upgrade yourself.
It would be difficult for me to even think about doing an upgrade to someone else's live board. I know my board. I know my hacks. When I encounter problems, I feel comfortable playing around with things. |
