Woopra for vBulletin

Woopra (http://www.woopra.com/) is a hosted live tracking site that allows you to examine the live stats of your website. This plugin will allow your site to be tracked by Woopra. You still need an account on Woopra and your site to be approved for this to work!

Install & Config
Install the product_woopra_stats.xml in your product page. Upload the bitfield XML to your XML directory under includes. :) Enter your Woopra Site ID number under your forum settings options. This is needed for the template to process. There are other options there also!

Please click install if you install this! Support faster to those with "Install" clicked, but not needed. Thanks!

Please Note!
Woopra does not support this plugin. I do. So if you have any problems with the plugin, please contact me. If it has to deal with the software that they provide, I can not deal with it. Registration problems on Woopra I can not deal with either.

Woopra Official Plugin Directory URL
Woopra on their site has an official plugin directory on their website, however it links back to this post.

Screenshots
They are limited, but you can get an idea by visiting their website to see how it works and the type of data that you get. I updated this post too include screens from my view. This is view the Java APP that you can connect with. It's very fun! :) (Note: I run 1900x1200 so they got automatically re-sized here... so.... http://www.frakmedia.net/shane/woopra/ is where I placed some images)

Known Problems
  • User Title/User Group - This should be showing the "group name", not the title. I will have this fixed in 1.0.5.
Version History
  • 1.0.0 - Initial Release
  • 1.0.1 - Talking with the Woopra dev team, non-logged in users will show up as "Visitor X" and so on.
  • 1.0.2 - New data can be passed: "Post Count", "User Title", "Join Date" Also the fields that are passed names are based off your default forum language. This means "Email" will still be "Email" (inside the Woopra Java App) if you have the forum default to Enligsh, no matter if your user has set theirs to another language. Moved Javascript code to load after forum display/thread listing instead of on top. Can be used as far back as 3.6.8 but designed on 3.7.x.
  • 1.0.3 - $spacer_open is in more places than I thought making it count to many times. I moved it back to the header of "$_phpinclude_output".
  • 1.0.4 - Avatar will not show up as a black box if the user in question does not have one in set. (A fix to deal with new app version.) Email will be standard clickable link in the application soon. Changed array name from woopra_array to woopra_visitor. Phrases for the items instead of using others.

Shane 04-02-2008 06:57 PM

I been talking with the contact person. I got access cause I was developing it. My small forum running it and it runs fine. Even the avatars are showing up.

fluentdesigns 04-02-2008 07:00 PM

I just signed up and it let me right in.

Allan 04-02-2008 07:01 PM

Do you have a demo or screens please ?

Shane 04-02-2008 07:08 PM

Yes. I just posted some of my connection. :)

bxbigt 04-02-2008 07:17 PM

And i just signed up....

iogames 04-02-2008 07:30 PM

Looking forward to install this :P

SEOvB 04-02-2008 07:51 PM

When you sign up, add your site, and then it takes about 7 days to get an activation code :)

KURTZ 04-02-2008 07:54 PM

just registered onto woopra' site ... so what i need is only their code?

Shane 04-02-2008 07:57 PM

Yeah. Once they give your site the a code, just enter it in the settings, and you should off and running. :)

fluentdesigns 04-02-2008 08:00 PM

How does this measure up to Google Analytics?

OK, so i'm waiting ... :D

Shane 04-02-2008 08:13 PM

Data that is gathered is complied live compared to Google Analytics and Quantcast where you have to wait after a certain time to see your results. You can't also actively track to see where users are going in your site (forum in our case) in and out and their patterns.

When I am logged in I can watch one user go from the main page, reply to a post, read a thread and go off to another site, then come right back and do something else. It's really something else. Once I get a code for another one of my sites, it's going to help a lot because the site is so huge I want to be able to see how people navigate around the site, as most of them are visitors.

iogames 04-02-2008 08:26 PM

Like my Ex GF says: 'Answer me the question!' :P

Who's better, Google Analytics or Woopra?

Shane 04-02-2008 08:31 PM

I can't say. That's a personal option. I have never used Google Analytics.

I saw this, and I feel in love because I love the details. I contacted the dev team right after my initial creation and they were like... "Send our way now! Thanks!". Now I got them in my Google Talk contacts. Originally this was designed to be used on a WordPress installation. Course.. it's designed for any site. All you really have to do is add the code, and this plugin, makes it simple to do that. :)

does it spider your site, too ? like google ? i mean, is it good for more traffic and search engine hits ?

Shane 04-02-2008 08:49 PM

I don't think so. It gathers data based off them visiting the site. I can really care less where the spiders go. I haven't seen any popup, so I doubt they are being tracked.

snunhuck 04-02-2008 09:52 PM

interesting :D

The following dependencies were not met:

1. This product is not compatible with version 3.7.0 Beta 6 of vBulletin. (Compatible starting with 3.7.0 Release Candidate 1)

Shane 04-02-2008 10:30 PM

That is correct. You need at least 3.7.1 RC 1. You should be on RC2. Beta has ended a while ago.

NeuroLancer 04-02-2008 11:10 PM

when you sign up at woopra, the url that you must enter, should it be yoursite.com/forum or yoursite.com

I'm still running 3.6.x - After looking at the plugin, why wouldn't this work with any version? cache_templates and parse_templates are available hooks. Am I just missing something?

Shane 04-03-2008 12:10 AM

Just yoursite.com. You do not need the directory.

Kicks 04-03-2008 04:50 AM

can someone invite me ?

Cybertims 04-03-2008 07:44 AM

Signed up to woopra but no email from them, how can you use this product if they dont activate your account?

And 7 days? another version of VB would be out by the time they get around to sorting your account out.

gwerzal 04-03-2008 09:44 AM

Iv jst registered.

Shane 04-03-2008 12:36 PM

Just give them time. I had to beg the dev team to give me an invite code. I am working on some "features". You can add custom fields to track. Forum name, etc. What ever you can think of. :)

Update: I talked with the dev team, and they assure me that there will be no codes given out until next week. They are upgrading their server farm. Coupled with a software update, they assure me that next week it will be open and everyone will be approved.

navajotex? 04-03-2008 02:53 PM

Please allow up to 7 business days to receive an approval response........

because' not 24 hours. .7 days long son

Cobro 04-03-2008 05:01 PM

thank you very much

iogames 04-03-2008 07:33 PM

can I close my account later? :D

Shane 04-07-2008 10:25 PM

I have started updating a new version of the plugin. Even though it seems pointless, I been thinking of how to add custom data that can be passed when a user is process. Forum thread, style, age, etc. There is a whole range of information I can pull. So I'm going to hold off any other updates until it's officially released in a few days. Also working on making the primary javascript hostable for those who might have bad or slow internet connections.

Thanks for all the work on this... it's going to kickass!

txspaderz 04-11-2008 03:23 AM

Neat Idea. Installed and awaiting Woopra Approval. (Any chance for an invite code?)

Nominated for MOTM

KURTZ 04-11-2008 10:05 AM

Same here, what a waste of time!

Shane 04-11-2008 02:00 PM

There is nothing I can do about it... I don't even have invite codes. :( I been able to get only my one site approved and that's been for development only. There was a couple of days that they were working on the servers and it went super slow. I had to even disable it for about 10 minutes. They setup a forums (non-vb) on their site to keep everyone up to date. If your site grew from 200 to 2 million in a few days, you have to work out the logistics in getting the proper resources to help this successful beta.

cosy 04-11-2008 05:36 PM

nice now only need the code :D
