How to get rid of aggressive users?

Hoping someone might have experience or advice on this on :)

I have a user who was openly hostile and agressive, he also shared his account on BugMeNot which warrants a permanant ban on my board.

I IP banned him, his email, banned his host with IP-no-register mod, and banned him from my server side. This guy came back on a proxy which I also got rid of with a proxy redirection script.

So this guy comes back and harasses me and the site with another email and IP, after banning IP's from over 5 different countries I'm confused on what to do next. He keeps coming back, and making new accounts.

He also has my info due to Whois (I locked that info up in godaddy a bit too late). Not sure if he still has it.

My host can't keep up lol

Any help? Mods, super security techniques, anything? *please*

you know, the best way to have a hand on your enemy is to sleep with him...

edit... actually, your guy is just harrassing you because you play his game... forget about him, just let him play, he will be exhausted one day...

Paul M's Miserable user modification.

I agree with Nexia. He only reacts to your reaction. If there is none, he will find someone else to bother, eventually.

Also agreed about the miserable user mod, it's great - he won't keep coming back when everytime you make his experience really slow.

@Nexialys - Lol, I have been ignoring him recently. It's working so-so. I'll just have to hope he'll go away.

@Marco - thanks I will definitely install that! :)

The first 15 posts of new users on my forum require manual validation from the mods. So spammers and banned have a hard time try to get back on. They can post some useless stuff, but it's an effort for them to try to come back. The "tachy goes to coventry" option works pretty well in addtion to the Miserable User mod and my manual validation. LOL

Threaten him that you will subscribe his -otherwise hidden to members- emails to tons of newsletters and spam mails :D

But of course I am morally against that

I think if you spam him back that will only instigate him more.

iogames 03-31-2008 03:02 PM

100% ignore him... and keep doing your job  [which is Moderate & administrate :?P~]

Boofo 03-31-2008 03:03 PM

Then there are users like iogames that you just can't get rid of no matter how hard you try. ;)

Very bad advice as first, you are no better than who you are dealing with, and second, that only makes the matters worse.

You can see that post? Hmm... ;)

I've used Tachy to hilarious effect - I've got three on there who were previously banned and they still don't realise it.

I was joking lol. I think a good idea is to make the first 5 member posts moderated, if that is possible technically..

Princeton 04-01-2008 12:28 PM

never waste your time or resources

move him to a "moderated" group ..
all posts placed into moderation que (and just ignore them)

they will eventually go away

lasto 04-01-2008 04:43 PM

whats the way where you can move someone to a new usergroup and they see every post and can even reply to new threads etc but no other member can see that persons post so they dont know they been sort of blocked.

Is that moderated user ?

Boofo 04-01-2008 04:48 PM

Tachy goes to coventry?

lasto 04-01-2008 06:01 PM

is that a hack as its not part of inbuilt vb

Rapscallion 04-01-2008 06:32 PM

Try under VB options, user banning options. Bottom of the page. Just add their member number and they're banjoed.
