Call of Duty 4 Forums

Hello all, looking to get my forums reviewed by you wonderful people. Started with phpbb3 and moved to VB and love it so far. I would like to hear some opinions about: styles/images, organization, management, the community, features, and user friendliness on my forums.

looks good, i like it , good colors , good feel to COD4 , but maybe the logo can change a little , just maybe.

The forums are also good, i like them ,however i dont like your icons at all , you need to get those customized.

good work but i would say 7.5/10

Regards!

I disagree. I play COD4 and the colors are a washed out blue look instead of a brown army type look. Kind of throws me off.

I've had a hard time finding a darker gaming-type template for vBulletin. There are some maps in Call of Duty 4 that are kind of brown so I chose this one. I'm planning on expanding the banner to have images all the way across instead of fading out in the middle... but my banner guy is awful slow. I might just put a 468x60 banner in the banner on the right.. since I've heard that is a good spot.

@Xrato: Which icons do you mean?

Xtrato 03-20-2008 03:35 AM

the icons like new posts ,etc i think those need to be custom

haha codboards lol i like ur page man i been fallowing you for a while now...im at *** No reason to promote your own website in this thread *** by the way i love your page......... to bad i dont play cod!

Its ok but if it were me , more of a blue lighter colour the brown is too dark , cod4 is modern warfare make it more modern

And the logo at the top wants to be more in your face and inviting

Just finding this thread today, I really like the design. I play COD4 and I like it. However, the post icons being envelopes could be changes to gernades or something. Otherwise good work. :)

I agree the post icons need to be changed to something that reflects COD instead of being envelopes.

Everything else looks ok to me - I'd maybe change the logo but the one you have is fine.

Content and layout wise it looks great :)

Thanks for the reviews. What do you guys specifically not like about the banner? Also, are there any premade image sets for the envelope things? I could only find post icons/buttons and smilies in the styles section

ArnyVee 03-22-2008 01:54 AM

It's a little 'dark' for my liking, but everyone has their own style. I agree with getting customized buttons for an improvement. But, it looks like you have a winner there! Congrats!

I need to find some help for my new site in regards to a custom skin, I think.

I don't know what it is about the logo but for me it jus doesn't have a Call of Duty 4 feel about it, there are some distinctive graphics and images used in COD 4 that give a feeling of modern warfare, looking at your logo it could be depicting any wartime era or game.

Jus my opinion though :)

Not sure where you could find custom war/army related post icons - try where you bought the skin from - or maybe post a request in the graphics/styles section of vb.org

edit: Jus a thought, if you're looking for some 'army' smilies, then check out - vbImageWorks

Brown, blue, who cares - that's a great looking skin man. :)
