Why vB.org doesn't upgrade to vBversion 3.7.0?

I would like to know why vbulletin.org doesn't upgrade forum version to 3.7.0?
If any administrator tell me what they about thought or why they wait.

Its not even released yet. :D

nexialys 03-14-2008 08:53 PM

this is the most replicate question ever posted on vb.org...

each new release brings that same question... would be cool to have a "GREATEST QUOTES" place where we read the answers given to this question...

Yes, I knew Paul but I meant the latest version of vBulletin
why do you not upgrade forum to the vB v3.7.0 beta 6 :D

Kirk Y 03-14-2008 09:09 PM

Because it's still in Beta. Technically speaking, Beta builds should not even be used on live boards (not that people don't do it anyway).

I was thinking it was more on the lines that the constant beta, release candidate and other releases before the final version and the modifications I'd assume are used here would be a right pain... You know, like reverting templates and files, then reapplying modifications for every single release of the software...

And you do know the amount of stuff released on vBulletin.org by the staff? That kind of amount of stuff to update for every upgrade.

We dont run beta software on vb.org.

Its going to be a big enough job as it is to upgrade once 3.7 goes gold, we certainly dont have the resources to keep upgrading every two or three weeks.

BTW, I can tell you now that once 3.7 is released, it will be a month or two before we upgrade.

THIS IS PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE.
IT IS UNSUPPORTED.

If you are not fully at home with backing-up and restoring your forum, dealing with bugs and regular upgrades, DO NOT INSTALL THIS VERSION

the message is clear.

Relax Guys Just Wait For The Announcement

DivisionByZero 03-20-2008 04:44 PM

i swear people should have a license to run a website!

Boofo 03-20-2008 05:03 PM

I have had nothing but good luck with all the betas and now with RC1. But then I have my run-your-own-website license.

DivisionByZero 03-20-2008 05:30 PM

i have too, but that's because we know what we're doing.

Shazz 03-20-2008 05:54 PM

vB.org likes gold, and that gold won't be out for a while as the looks of it

Dismounted 03-21-2008 03:12 AM

Gold is approaching, as we're in RC stages :p.

Hasann 05-18-2008 02:45 AM

Gold is there :p
