/showthread.php was not found on this server

I've done a fresh install of v3.7.0 b6 and am starting it up as a new forum so the database is new. There are no mods, all I've done is changed the colours.

(I previously had a working version of 3.6.8 PL2 on the same server.)

The problem I am having is that you cannot view the threads that have been posted by the new members today. They have never been viewable.

I get this browser message when trying to access a thread

PS - the file showthread.php IS on the server within the forums folder. I can't even access it by typing it in as a standalone url, but all the other php pages work, thus I don't think it is a vbulletin problem but have no idea.

if you did not edit your forum and it is an official install, you have to report this problem here:

It's very unlikely to be a vbulletin bug. Loads of people have successfully installed 3.7.0 b6.

Revert the skin and see if that fixes the problem.

I haven't changed the skin, just the colours.

Maybe in changing the colors you accidentally changed something else. I'm just offering a possible solution. It is up to you to take it or leave it.

Sometimes if the uploading of a specific file got corrupted you can end up with this problem.

Try reuploading showthread.php and see if that fixes it.

Hmm. Well showpost.php works ok so there's no issues with the posts themselves.

The next thing I would suggest....is your actual DOWNLOAD of vb corrupt? Or more to the point, that particular file?

Try downloading the files again and uploading the showthread.php from the new package.

Check file and file permissions are correct.
Check Suspect Files under Maintenance -> Diagnostics

If that does not solve your problem, check your webserver errorlogs.
Might also be a bad rule in mod_security or such if you are using that.

The forums holder is 755 and the showthread.php file is 644 although I did try this on 777

Just has error logs for the missing showthread.php file

I created a .htaccess file to disable it but didn't change anything.

Please post the exact errorlines from your webserver log.

Here it is:
(please bear in mind that some of the errors are where I tried to move the showthread.php file into the root directory just to see if I could pull it up in my browser outside of the forums folder. I've since moved it back and it is definitely in the forums folder now)

If you have a .htaccess file in either your home (../public_html/.) or forumhome (../public_html/forums/.) then try renaming them for a short time and see if that resolves your problem. You might have a bad redirect rule in there.

What i do see in the log is that (even at the end) your forum is installed at ./forums, but you are trying to load /showthread instead of /forums/showthread.

Are there any mod_rewrite rules set? I did some work for a site recently that ahd the same problem with member.php and it turned out there was a mod rewrite rule in an htaccess file in the site root folder.

As it happens there were other .htaccess files on the server. Deleting them changed the error message but didn't solve the problem. So I did a fresh install. I wiped clean everything on my hosting space and reinstalled. The same problem occured:

This is a complete different error message. Please view your webserver logfiles again.

I'm afraid all this is above me, so I have no idea why this was necessary for my standard installation when previously 3.6.8 PL2 worked fine.

It would be interesting to see what they had to add to your htaccess file. You may want to ask them and then post it here and perhaps someone can explain what your host did.

He should be able to view that himself in the domain root. I, too, am interested in what needed to be added for this.
