[AJAX] SmnLikQuick v2.0 - Advanced Announcements Block
 
Description:
SmnLikQuick v2.0 adds an advanced announcement block (Title and Content) to your vBulletin powered pages that is easily managed via AdminCP. This new version (based on the AJAX Tabs Content Script (v 2.0) written by Dynamic Drive), utilizes Ajax to display multiple announcements in one container when the title (tab) is clicked on. It also has the ability (and utilizes this ability upon install) to rotate between tabs (announcements) in a "slideshow" type manner until a user explicitly clicks on a tab (see screenshots provided).

Co-Owner/Co-Authors:Please Note that there is a new setting that allows Admins to choose whether to parse BB Code or HTML (not both). It is reccomended that you parse BB for security reasons, however the choice is yours.

SmnLikQuick Addons:
  • SmnLikQuick CMPS Module - This turns your SmnLikQuick v2.0.x Announcements Block into a CMPS Module. You MUST have BOTH SmnLikQuick v2.0 AND vBAdvanced CMPS installed. Demo: SmnLikDat.com
Future Features:
  • Usergroup permissions per Announcement.
  • Slideshow timing controlled via AdminCP (Control Speed or Disable this feature)
  • Display certain Announcements to certain users via their UserCP
INSTALL:
  1. Upload the files within the UPLOAD folder (in this package) to the corrosponding forum directories on your server making sure to keep the filetree intact.
  2. Import Product: SmnLikQuick.xml via AdminCP>Plugins & Products>Manage Products>Add/Import Product
  3. Refresh AdminCP (ie: Ctrl-F5)
  4. Complete Template Edits (2 Edits) - Instructions provided in .zip file.
  5. (Optional) Edit includes/smnlikquick_css.css to match your style.
  6. Add Announcements & Enable the SmnLikQuick Mod via AdminCP>SmnLikQuick

Hi,
I'm a big fan of bobster works ... and I will like this.

When you talk about issue using firefox ... I open your link/demo with ff , really the first tab is messed. Would be a css problem? :(

The issue in FF was found kinda last minute... I haven't had a chance to investigate that yet but once I get some sleep will get it fixed along with any other issues that are found... ?

Anarx, working on an addon to make that happen as I need it too =0)

Gratz on releasing your first mod Bree, you've earned it and with a mod that I'm proud to see released by you. Glad the teachings I gave paid off, now to get NMAPS released. LOL

Nice hack, going to play with it. On another note, I like your vBAdvanced block called, "Top 5 Stats" do you mind sharing that code? Also, what determines the height of the box? I'm impressed with your work. Thanks, rg sends!

It isn't working in those browsers? That's weird cause the AJAZ Tab Content Script by Dynamic Drive that this mod is based on, requires FF1+ IE5.5+ Opr8+ to work. Can you link me to the page its installed on?

Little girl in the picture is my 7yo daughter... isn't she beautiful? (Proud parent, sorry)... Little one kinda got lost behind me... she's 3 =0) With children that old... would suck to be 12 myself LOL Eeeewwwwww... But wow... I'm always told I look young but 12? Wow... just wow =0)

rolandogomez, I got that installed on a vB 3.7 Beta 3 I think... I need to update my live site yet *blush*... One of my test sites is running Beta 6 tho so will install on there and check for ya... I will have to get to it later this evening tho.. working on this css issue with SmnLikQuick...

Zip has been updated... Display Issues with FireFox corrected... Upload the forums>clientscript>smnlikquick_css.css file allowing overwrite... I'll attach just that file here so you don't have to download the whole package again.

It seems to still work. However, when I select Manage Announcements, I get the following errors:

Warning: mysql_query() [function.mysql-query]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/usr/local/mysql-5.0/data/mysql.sock' (2) in /admincp/smnlikquick.php on line 36

Warning: mysql_query() [function.mysql-query]: A link to the server could not be established in /admincp/smnlikquick.php on line 36

Warning: mysql_result(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /admincp/smnlikquick.php on line 37

Any ideas why I would get this?

The most common problem when it shows up as a "list" instead of Tabs is that the path to the .css for the Tabs is not correct.

Tazzarkin: Seems there might be an error of how its gathering the info from the database. I'll have a look and let Bree know.

I can not reproduce this error on any of my vBulletins (I am running several different versions) but am looking into it...

If you notice the bottom of his screen shot...Error on Page

It is looking for a Java Script called AJAXTABS, which I downloaded, and installed..BUT tab are still not working.

View the source on the page once the mod is installed... between the head tags you should find coding like below:

which was completed in Template Edit One... Does this show up? If not, then the templates were not edited correctly (or the correct templates were not edited).. This is why links are useful... so that I can view and pinpoint the problem easier... Just saying "it doesn't work" doesn't help us much in determining the issue... And I see the error but have no way of reading it from the screenshot.... I've installed this hack, per instructions, 30+ times on several different versions of vB and have run into no problems... All my boards are ran with php4 however, so have someone testing on php5 tomorrow... I'm working hard to get this matter fixed for you... Please have patience.
