European Union
What up wit dat?
Seriously, what is the future of Europe here, and don't direct me to Wiki, I know the site. But still is all of Europe going to be considered the European Union in the future? Who is in the Union and who is not at this point? |
Ah, onions... i prefer French Onions over all the others, but hey, if they renamed them "European Onions", what else could we do... some sauce, butter with pepper and a good steak!
Hum ?! What ?!... Union.... OH, my my... ... for me the EU is more like the USE, (USA >> USE... use your brain!) and i think it will be good in the future... the less countries we have, the less wars we have... if these nations are too friendly and share too much stuff, they will not be able to split and start a war... StarTrek Period is coming ! (with a good steak and french fries!) |

I think I was more looking for a Europeans POV on the Union, if it's better or worse and whether they like it better or not, etc.
But no worries. |
Well, if you ask questions, then we can try to answer.. At this point, I wrote and deleted many things. :)

To repeat myself since apparently the obvious statement I made is not so obvious, is the Union better or worse ....(( than OBVIOUSLY IT'S ALTERNATIVE )) of not being in the European Union??? Is that clear? |
You'd probably get a better response in a community dedicated to uhm European politics or just Europe in general.
I know this is a Community Lounge, but some of these topics, oh boy! |
To know if something is better or worse, you need to know both the situation before and now. There are not that many around here i guess that still experienced the "before".
Almost like asking americans if it would be better or worse if there was no USA. |
if there was no USA, americans would be moving to Canada, so please, no.. there is not enough space for them... too big
|
Why do you Yankees care about the EU anyway ;)?
|
The EU doesn't have a strong foundation, the Union tries to find at least one common cultural symbol to use, and they couldn't, what is Europe anyhow, how do you define it? it's a chunk of Eurasia arbitrarily drawn. What is the common thing between European people? christianity + geography? I would doubt it.

Anyway, please stop with the derogatory colloquialisms and keep your opinions on other countries to yourself. It's not professional amongst an international community. |

Can you even pronounce the words you speak? lolz, rarely do people use that, and yeah I can pronounce. :p |
Yes, I can pronounce almost all the words I type - except for when I try to type dutch to Marco.

There's a reason we dug the channel...
As a Brit, I can honestly say that most of my country is fairly 'bleh' about Europe (or Yurp as I like to pronounce it). I consider it highly amusing that the name of the common currency sounds akin to someone vomiting. Will it make a difference to the person on the street? Apart from a few new measurements instead of what we're familiar with and, eventually, a new currency, not really. It will make a difference to big business, as they will be able to work the new system for their benefit, and the politicians will be like a child with a new toy (which is pretty much what it is), but for the ordinary person on the street? We won't feel any different, nor will we act different. Fortunately, we Brits still have opt-outs on many things (last I heard), so there will be more alleged drama over that. Rapscallion |
