User Name Style: Bold & Glow (Optional)

This is my first ever template modification, this works for any versions of 3.6.x vBulletin versions.

Description: This will give users an option in their profile to bold & glow there usernames.

Step 1 - Bold

Create a new profile field through your AdminCP.

Multiple Selection Textbox

Title: Username Bold

Description: Here you can bold your username if you would like to make it stand out more.

Limit Selection: 1

Items Per Line: 0

Fields: 1 field called Bold Username (one option for users to check if they want).

Profile Field Type: Multiple-Selection Checkbox

Field Required: No

Field Editable by User: Yes

Private Field: No

Field Searchable on Members List: No

Show on Members List: No

Click Save.

Step Two

Edit the template you use, either Posbit Legacy or Postbit.
Find (there will be two, do this to the first one):

Field Searchable on Members List: No

Show on Members List: No

The rest is up to you.

Click Save.

Step Two

Find in your Postbit or Postbit Legacy template:

Yeah sorry, here is the screenshots. If you're wondering how to have an option so users can pick for a custom usertitle glow of any color of there choice, that will be in my next template modification release:up:

I tried this, but I have a problem.
My name is glowing red, and my name is red.
Is there anyway I can change the glow color?

Was wondering if there is anyway to put this code in Usergroup: Administrators in the Username HTML Markup field? I've tried adding the code but always get errors and the glow doesn't show up. I only want to have glow for admins/mods. Any help? Using 3.6.8 here.

If there is no way to put it in that field can you show me how to make it so only admins/mods get a glow using your hack? IE: admins red, mods blue. Thank you.

In the plugins manager, find the glowing usernames plugin. Then just set for which usergroups you would like, registered users aren't included in that mod but you can include them if you want. You can also change the color and glow color of the usergroups you wish to through the plug in manager.

Sorry this doesn't make any sence to me. I go to Plugin manager under Plugins & products and don't see any glowing usernames plugin or usergroups like you're talking about? Please explain? I followed the instructions at the url you gave me.

BTW after doing this mod I am using v3.6.8 and no glow shows up at all. I am using IE7 also.

You can change the usergroups ID, and glow color and color as well. You can also get rid of usergroups. Just have a mess around, I'm sure you'll get it.

glow works but I do not have this plugin you have to be able to edit it to make usergroups have diff glows set from cp & make users not be able to pick glow.

Yeah, you must of missed something because it is definetely in the Plugin Manager. You could always edit the product with the usergroups then re-upload the product in your product manager.

I did not add the bold step otherwise did all the rest I don't see how that would make anything show up in the plugin either way? There isn't even a code I add with this in it

There must be more to this addon what am I missing? I did the steps I quoted above except i did not add the bold step 1. Please help i want to be able to set glows for usergroups.

Yeah, you must of missed something because it is definetely in the Plugin Manager. You could always edit the product with the usergroups then re-upload the product in your product manager.

How? I don't get how there is supposed to be plugins/products when you don't supply any of those files. All I do is a few template edits and add a text box. Confused...

Hey you are getting my mod and that other mod confused with the same mod... My mod only involves template edits, no products, uploads or plugins. That other guys mod (glowing usernames) that I posted the link to has a product, plugins and other things I think. I know it has a plug in because I used it awhile ago on my forum. You don't upload or import the plugin, the plugin should automatically be there once you have imported the product.

Ahh well I only did your hack above I didn't use the other one which is why i'm not getting any plugins to show up. Can I do the usergroup glow with your mod or do I have to install the other one? If so can you link me to it and do I have to uninstall your hack?

^The difference between my mod and his mod, is that users (registered, admins, mods and super mods) can choose a glow color of their choice for their username if they wish to have a glowing username through their user CP (my mod). His mod only sets a glow color of the admins choice (in the plugin manager) for each usergroup, which you can then delete usergroups or add in usergroups if you wish.

You don't have to uninstall my mod if you don't want to because it doesn't interfere with his mod whatsoever. But if you were looking for certain usergroups to glow a certain color, then that is his mod.
