Invision tech
Hi Guys, heres a skin i recently made based on a tech style theme, anyways i hope you enjoy, don't forget to click install:
Name: Invision Tech (ITech) Version: v1.0.0 Author: Neo_Angelo Theme: Dark/tech Colors: Dark blue/grey Live Demo: http://rpcentral.net/?styleid=41 Notes: A nicely laid out skin which provides depth and feel to your forum, make people appreciate your forum more with this great addition and be the envy of your rivals, this skin provides clean designs with the eye catching subtleties which will keep your users wanting to come back for more! (c) to RPcentral.net Screenshots are provided below. Installation guide contained in ZIP. Feedback appreciated. thanks -Neo_Angelo POST BIT border Tutorial: In the post bit you should look for the following (yours may be different as i have edited templates in mine): Quote:
to make the inner background and border use the tag <div class="postdata"></div> i've highlighted these in BLUE and GREEN for your convenience so you can see what each one does NOTE: Blue = outer background and border (the dark blue/grey) Green = data border (the lighter colored boxes within the post bit that contain post count, age etc) To alter the colors or style in any way, look in the MAIN CSS of the skin in the first box at the bottom for extra CSS, look for .Postdata and .Postborder PS- don't forget to click INSTALL! >>>>>>>>>>>>UPDATE<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Bug fix: Welcome box appears twice, (fixed/ZIP updated) Banner.gif added (blank banner template) |
It's looking good but I would like to see a live demo instead. Got a link?
|
Live demo here: http://rpcentral.net/?styleid=41

Dude, the "Welcome guest" message seems to be duplicated. You might want to remove that.
|
hmmm, i'll look into that, i think i know why that is....i'll update this once i've fixed it.
EDIT: ZIP updated! |
looks like there are no images i installed in forum/image/Invision tech

Welcome guest" message seems to be duplicated. not banner problem
|
It does not appear that the banner.gif was included in the zip (unless I missed it). Just go to http://rpcentral.net/index.php and grab that one (the right click option). Also your missing "http://usajeepowners.com/forum/images/itech/misc/close.gif" for your registration mod
|
thanks for taking the time out to help but i will not use styles it seems to have problems with my board
|
ahhh sorry guys i think the uploading of the ZIP file went wrong as it seemed to have had a few things missing, this was due to my PC playing up. I've updated the Skin so the problems with duplicate guest messages should have been sorted. also the banner comes in the form of a PSD file, theres no blank banner for use, you can edit the PSD how you choose although i'll add a blank gif for use should people need it.

can you explain a little clearer, on my PC that site looks fine.

thats because thats your banner...it will say that...you may have to change the location in STYLE VARS of the banner your using....by Default it'll be:
/Images/itech/banner.gif change it to the location of the banner you wish to use. that will remove the FORUM text and add your banner. |

ok could you screen shot the STYLE VARs section of the skin for me to see. and also tell me where you banner is located...does that text come up each time, and does the banner ever show?
|
i thank you for all your help but i will not use this one had to much problems i do run about
12 diffrent style on my site |
ok no worries, it was probably something simple, as it works on mine and i installed the skin on the my site after deleting it to try to re-created the problem....but it worked fine.

In the "Quote" box.. is there a simple way to make that border red instead of grey? I am used to messing with phpBB and don't have much of a clue with VB, as I haven't had the time to dig into the program.. I am just getting around to customizing the site, after running my site for the last 7-months with the VB OEM version.. Thanks.. Q |
erm what do you mean quote box? as in this
Quote:
hmmm you'd probably have to add your own CSS. the easiest way would be to use a simple CSS class: in the MAIN CSS at the bottom where it says additional CSS put this: .quoteborder { border-top: solid 1px #ff0000; border-left: solid 1px #ff0000; border-right: solid 1px #ff0000; border-bottom: solid 1px #ff0000; } Then in Postbit_legacy template find the area involving quotes (can't think from the top of my head) and put a div tag over them <div style="quoteborder">Quote code structure here</div> hope this has helped a little, i'm still learning myself ^_^. |

I loved the look, the only problem I had is that VB 3.6.7 (which I am running, came up with 4-template errors.. Saying that the templates needed to be "updated", that they were from 3.6.6 ect... As I learn more about working on the templates, I will install this one again and see if I can figure out what I needed to update.. But I love the dark blues and the way it laid out.. Thanks.. Q |
no thank you for using it.....if you click on compare templates you should be able to see an OLD -> NEW bit showing my edited template and your current template.
you'll have 4-5 template edits required as these are the edited versions needed to make the skin work. but they should work without a problem on 3.7 as there isn't much difference. the edited template are: Postbit_Legacy FORUMHOME forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost forumhome_forumbit_level2_post these edits were required to seperate the forums and give the mousover effect on the catagories. thats why your getting these template "Errors" even though they aren't errors. |
