Exclude forums from Similar Threads
 

Description:

This simple plug-in will let you exclude forums from Similar Threads.

Tested With:

• vBulletin 3.6.8

Changes:

• [v1.0.1] added an option to show only threads from the same forum.
• [v1.0.0] first release.

Installation & Upgrade Instructions:

Upload the product & configure the settings.

make the similar threads from the same forum id not like the defult the similar threads from all forums

nice hack....I also wonder if it is possible for someone to make a hack where you can manually choose what threads gets posted under the similar threads section in each post...that would be the best hack ever!

Does this help forum performance by reducing the number of threads scanned?

I also like yahoooh's idea of similar threads from within the same section (or choosing sections).

Well, if similar threads gives a list of 50 topics and with this plugin you only get 5, this will reduce the number of loops.

I was waiting for something like this for almost 3yrs and was about to use Mystics prefix to sort the threads out. I hope they add this to vBulletin core script, as it is needed.

- another suggestion would be good to be able when you disable example forum id 42 that it would be able to disable the sub categories as well :)

Hi,

You just need to place the forum ids with commas: 1,2,3,4.
Nothing else!
What vB version are you using?

3.6.4 but what im asking exactly is what does this hack does?

it prevents similar to show in the forums that i've excluded?

or will similar thread show in every forums just won't show threads that i've excluded?

I haven't tested with 3.6.4.

Is there a 3.8 version?

Is the actual "SEARCH" reduced to only the same forum as the thread when enabled.

Or does it still search all forums and only "SHOW" results from the same forum.

I want to use this if it will help reduce server load.

Also the feature I would like is to restrict search to only the last X days.

We have threads from 2005 that pop up and the support info its out of date and threads are closed.
