2.- Commercial vs Lite version

3.- Installation
  1. Upload all files and directories including at "vbulletin" directory to the directory where vBulletin is installed.
  2. CMOD the following directories to 777
    1. /photos (inside vbfclassifieds directory)
    2. /tmp (inside vbfclassifieds/photos directory)
    3. /thumbs (inside vbfclassifieds/photos directory)
  3. For security reasons backup your database AND turn your board off
  4. Check at your AdminCP->vBulletin Options->Plugin/Hook System that Plugin system is enabled.
  5. From your AdminCP->Plugin System->Manage Products choose Add/Import Product and import the product: product_vbfclassifieds.xml
  6. If you want to add a link to your nav bar then you must edit the NAVBAR template:
    Search For:
    Code:
    <td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="calendar.php$session[sessionurl_q]">
    $vbphrase[calendar]</a></td>
    Add Below:
    Code:
    <td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="vbfclassifieds.php$session[sessionurl_q]">Classifieds</a></td>
    ....or use any other word you want
  7. By default none usergroup has permissions to use vbfclassifieds, so you need to give permissions to any group. Goto AdminCP->Usergroups->Usergroup Manager and edit any usergroup you like to give permissions.
  8. If you've installed vbSEO, Login into vbSEO Control Panel, click "Custom Rewrite Rules", insert rewrite rules (attached in vbseo-rules.txt to not lose formatting) and save settings.
4.- Copyright

The script cannot be redistributed, reproduced, or published in any way. Modifying this
script and sharing or publishing your modification anywhere without the author's written permission is not allowed, but you can modify it as you want but just for your
own use.

In addition to above restrictions you can't develop and share addons for 3nd party scripts (eg for vBadvanced).

Right now I have one:

As you can see in the screenshots, we don't use forums/subforums interface. Rather we use category/subcategory listings.
If this is what did you meant, yes, you can have different price per Ad for any single category or subcategory.
To setup subcategories, first you must setup categories and then, on the drop list on the right of the category's name, choose "Edit Subcategories".

When 3.7.x will has a stable version, we'll install it and check our Mods for any incompatibility. But the way that Mary developed her mods, it's nearly totally sure that they'll be compatible.

Interesting! I am gonna try it! I have tried several others out there and I have to say I was sheerly disappointed...

I assume this is the Lite version... May I ask, if I install this Lite version and decide on the Commercial version... is there any issues upgrading? Also, are the tables in the vb database, or is this database a separate one?

Hello Ed,

We use vB's database (as all mods I believe). Upgrade is simple by uploading the files again and re-importing the product_vbfclassifieds.xml file. There is no change in database as we didn't removed from the lite version the extra tables that the commercial version is using.

Hi Marina... Sounds good! I am installing now. Since I haven't finihed yet... can this be set up like a local ebay... with bidding and all? I see there is PayPal IPN support. And thanks for the fast response...

No, it's not an Auction module ...yet. Let's be honest. Everything is depending:
  1. On it's popularity
  2. On the amount of sales of the commercial version
We don't plan to add a simple "bid feature". We prefer not to add anything, than adding ...rubish. So, in case that it'll become popular, we'll add major autction features.

I installed it on a 3.6.4 and now my page is blank with the word Done in thbrowser window, try refreshing, however it is a test board after all. I guess it doesnt work for 3.6.4 as you do state 3.6.8

One Bug: Images Don't Display Nor Upload On Folders Establishes With 777 Permissions!! :confused: :(

Other Bug: When Including a Smilie in the Description, and Seeing the My Classifieds Option the Smilies are Displayed Enormous!! :confused: :( When Seeing the Classified the Smilies have a Normal Size.

Other Bug: There's No Option To Buy ?tems (Clasifieds), so there's No Way there's going to Be any Information Displayed on the My Sales and My Orders, Options!! :confused: :(

Other I Think Bug: There's No Rewiews Options For Users, I take as a Review the Concept of Allowing Users to Post Comments on the Classifieds!! :confused: :(

Other I Think Bug: There's No Option To Upload More Images (Just One)!! :confused: :(

Without the Reply (Comments) Option, I Think The Mod is Incomplete, as well as Without the Option to Buy an Item and Tell the Seller a Buyer is Interested in the Classified!! :rolleyes:

Also would be Great to Send a PM to the Seller when a Forumer (Client) is Interested in Buying an ?tem!! :rolleyes:

I've checked in person the code and I did all needed changes to be according to vB's prototype for security, by using $vbulletin->input->clean_gpc, by validating all form inputs and as you can see 95% of the code are functions.

Of course there is always the possibility to have forgotten something. The big difference is that I don't act like Mary, to become upset and let it in Graveyard. As soon as I'll be informed for a volnurability I'll check and correct it in a catch of the eye, and the mod will be back again and it will stay here for ever.

By default (as I'm writting in my post) none usergroup has permission to do anything, and the default amount of photos tha a user can upload is "0". Have you setup it?

In "My Classifieds" section the description that is appearing there is shorted according to the number of characters that you've setup in vbFClassifieds->Options. As the default is 100 characters, if you haven't change it, this is the reason that causes the problem.

Most probably you're trying to buy ...your items. My dear I spent lot of time to make the mod smart. To show what really needs to show. Except if you think that showing the option "Buy it" to ad's owner it's a need.

Reviews are going to Sellers and not to items. This is the normal way that classifieds work. And to be able to rate/review a seller you must first buy something from him.

Same as your similar question about the "Buy it". What do you want the "Contact seller" in your own ads? Are you planing to contact yourselve?:D

vbFClassifieds, is an advanced version of Mary's mod. Its based on her code, we just added code to follow vB's prototype for security. Also Mary participate by 20% to our company (vBulletin Freelancers).

Try a trick that works in most cases when your're getting blank page in vB's mods. From your admincp->vBulletin Option->Cookies and HTTP Header Options turn off GZIP HTML Output. Of course don't forget to save the new settings.

I am getting this error upon trying to add a classified:

Database error in vBulletin 3.6.8:

Invalid SQL:
SELECT id, name FROM vbfclassifieds_subcategories
WHERE categoryid= ORDER BY displayorder;

MySQL Error : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ORDER BY displayorder' at line 2

any ideas?

By seeing "categoryid= " seems that you haven't setup categories.

I clicked "add classified" and noticed it down in my browser. It's random tho, I tried to dupicate it and it hasn't shown up since. I will post back up if I see it.

hmmm... I know what happens, but it's not important (of course will update the file). At that point there is a javascript code to update the extra fields. But as the extra fields have been removed from the Lite version, the browser shows this error in the status bar.

Also, I asked another admin of mine to post an item so we could do a dry walk through of the purchase process before going live. Sorry for being a pain but I have yet another question. A assume the "my sales" and "my orders" updates hourly? I purchaed the item he posted and it is no longer available or seen for sale, but neither of us see anything under the "my sales" or "my orders" to comfirm is was completed? Does it update hourly, daily or are we missing something in the process? Sorry to be a pain in the ***.

And, can quantities be added?

1.- The update is automatic, as long as PayPal, send back the confirmation. Have you got emails from PayPal?
2.- No, quantities are not supporting yet. But after a sale, you can reactivate the Ad, without the need to re-write it. Just by clicking "Publish".

yes, emails have been received by both the buyer and seller, from paypal. I just checked "my orders" and "my sales" again and nothing is displayed?

  1. Is the seller's PayPal account a Premium or Business? Personal account are not supporting by PayPal for IPN (Instant Payment Notification).
  2. Is IPN activated in your (sellers) PayPal account?

You're Right; by setting a Number Higher than 0 the Images are Uploaded!! :up:

Ok!! But Your Should Consider Allowing Comunication With Potential Buyers!! I Would'nt Buy a Product Before Asking Some Questions First, ans Receiving Answers From the Seller, That's Logic!! :rolleyes:

I Like More Some of the Features on Mary's Classifieds on vbClubs, but if in this Mod you Add the Opportunity for Costumers to Ask Questions and for Sellers tobe Able to Answer then, I Think Would be Great!! :rolleyes:
One More Thing: I think is Neccesary for a Costumer to be Able to Show Interest in Buying a Product Before Actually Buying It; when a Costumer Fills the Buy Form, is Redirected to Paypal in the Same Window, if the Costumer Don't Fill the Paypal Form and make the Payment, Not even the Interest in Buying the Product will be Shared to the Seller; I think that By Adding the Possibility to Comment the Product by Potential Buyers and the Sellers, would Fill that Requirement!! ;) :confused:

I Think also that If Possible, the Paypal Buy Form should be Oppened in a New Window; perhaps add that Option in the Mod Options (Yes/No Open Paypal Form In New Window?)!! ;) :confused:

One More Thing: Would be Great to Be Able to Confirm the Sell Manually (additional to the Automatic Paypal Confirmation for Premium Accounts), so that if a Sell is Made and Confirmed, I as Seller can Confirm the Sell by Clicking the Unconfirmed Sell and Confirming it, and after a Time of No Confirmation simply Delete it!! (See the Cybernetec Paypal Donations to see how this Idea Works)!! ;) :confused:

I think the Intention to Buy Should be Reported, as well as Confirmed Manually by the Seller or Autatically by Paypal!! ;) :confused:

I think that you've misunderstood something. Olympic didn't wrote that there are no "Buy it" and "Contact seller" options. He wrote that you can't see them, as you're the owner of the Ad. Potential buyers (and everybody except you) can see these options, so they can contact (PM) you and of course they can buy your items.

For the other, it's Olympic's responsibility to reply.

But I Think Must of the Questions and Answers should be Made In Public, Not Only Via PM, so that The Answers I Give to one Buyer can Serve to Other One and I Don't Get Many Same Questions!! ;) :rolleyes:

It's like in E-bay, You're able to Ask the Seller Questions, if You're Satisfied You Boy otherwise You Don't!! And Some Answers made to other Potential Buyers may Serve Me to Clarify About the Product!! This Along with the Reviews and Opinions of other Buyers can Help Me Make My Decision if Buying that Item from the Seller!! ;) :rolleyes:

I Think That Functionallity is Essencial!! ;) :rolleyes: :confused:
