Flashchat: Who is chatting

This modification is no longer available or supported.

This is a simple display of who is currently chatting in FlashChat - on the forum homepage display.

Note: Version 3.7.003 and above are for Flashchat 5.0.x onwards, and will not work with Flashchat 4.x.x. Version 3.7.002 will currently continue to be available for Flashchat 4.

The main features of the 3.7 version are ;

1. It displays the list on Forum Home with the "Users online" display.
2. The list view is collapsable, so you see just the number.
3. Users who should display as coloured or bold etc are displayed correctly (based on the display usergroup)
4. If you 'hover' over a username it will show the room they are chatting in and their status (away etc).
5. If the chat is empty, a simple "no one is chatting" message is displayed.
6. The hack is phrased.
7. The ability to turn it on/off is in the ACP Options.
8. The ability to allow only certain usergroups to view the list is an ACP option (include or exclude groups).
9. The location of the Flashchat folder is an ACP option
10. The option to record and display the Most Ever chatters can be enabled.

(Options are located in vBulletin Options > Who Is Using Flashchat).

Unzip the XML and import into vB using the ACP Product Manager.

Note: This hack cannot display any bots in the chat, due to the strange way that Flashchat stores this information.

Please also note that I have no connection with the Flashchat product - if you have questions about Flashchat functionality then their forums are located here.

History:

v3.7.001 : First vb 3.7 release.
v3.7.002 : Updated to remove potential $group variable name clash. Not compatible with Flashchat 5.
v3.7.003 : First version for Flashchat 5.0.x. ATCS options removed. Not compatible with Flashchat 4.
v3.7.004 : Fix Most Ever Display Bug.

Thanks Paul. :)

Great job paul. always love your mods :)

tldagent 02-27-2008 01:39 PM

I've tried to install several of these who is chatting modules and products and I get an error:

1. The product paulm_wic_37 must be installed before this product may be installed. (Compatible starting with 3.7.001 / Incompatible with 3.7.999 and greater)

Any Suggestions?

--- Update - Nevermind, had to allow overwrite. Installed, Thanks!

yaoren 04-25-2008 02:54 PM

I've installed this and am seeing nothing on my forum home page. Do I need to do anything extra? Help is appreciated!

Running VB 3.7 RC4 and yes I have Flashchat installed along with the integration mod :)

Paul M 04-25-2008 03:37 PM

Perhaps you have a custom style ....

yaoren 04-25-2008 03:42 PM

Well I ended up using the addon to this which allows me to now see the box. Although I'm still not seeing any user info in it. It's a blank box and I'm not sure if I should ask in this thread or in the addon thread regarding this issue.

Paul M 04-26-2008 11:04 AM

What addon ?

yaoren 04-26-2008 01:58 PM

The Who Is Chatting (add on) by mosh.

I couldn't see the the box or anything when I used your mod but since I wanted the extra advantage of his mod I went ahead and added his too. When I did I was able to to see the box for who is chatting although the box is empty. I hope I'm not confusing you more but would like to get this sorted if possible. Any help is greatly appreciated!

LTW 04-26-2008 09:05 PM

Thank You Paul ... installed.

I have answered you in my thread.

yaoren 04-29-2008 02:00 AM

Ok Paul I'm back, I still can't get this hack to work on my site.

Mosh was awesome enough to take a look and even created a test template and still no luck. I have 3 skins currently including VB's and in all the skins I can't even see the box. The test template that Mosh created is the only one that I'm able to see the actual box but there is still no information within it. I can forward you the pm between Mosh and I and see if there's anything else you might be able to get me to try. I'd really like to get this one working.

Paul M 04-29-2008 06:42 AM

I cant really help you unless you give me admin access to your forum.

yaoren 04-29-2008 12:35 PM

Paul I'll send you the pm which has admin access since Mosh was trying to get it to work for me. It'll also have an explanation of what he's done. Hope you'll be able to help me out :)

*Edit* Also, I thought I'd mention that I just upgraded from 3.7.0 RC4 to 3.7.0 Gold and still not able to view it in any style.

debourdo 06-02-2008 07:03 PM

Can you give me advice on these weird extra characters that appear in my display:

Members currently using Flashchat: %1$s 0

Thanks! ~DEB

ArnyVee 07-01-2008 07:11 PM

Another great one Paul! :D

onestopadam 07-03-2008 03:05 PM

Is there an easy way to adapt this to make it display in the Ultimate Side Columns?

Meje 07-04-2008 07:25 AM

Works brilliantly! Thank you :)

Can I easily change the image it uses - the whos_online.gif ?

Ive had a bit of a poke around, but cant see where I would need to go to change it?

Paul M 07-04-2008 10:36 AM

Display_Chatters template.

Alfa1 07-04-2008 04:06 PM

I have a navigation tabs in my navbar. One is for chat. I would like to display on this tab, how many members are in chat.

I tried this:
PHP Code:

<a href="http://www.mysite.com/forum/misc.php?do=flashchat&room=1" title="Chat Room" id="mytab" class="tab">Chat <if condition="$totalchatters=='0'"><else />($totalchatters)</if></a

The conditional is added, so that it will not display if there are no chatters. I know this is likely not the best way to do it.

Anyway, the code $totalchatters does work on many pages, but not on blog.php, group.php and pages of various add ons.

Do you have any tips for what code to use?

Trickle 07-11-2008 09:29 PM

Is there anyway to only display who is chatting on the main chat room? I've created a private chat room and I don't want any registered users to see who's in there, but they can see who's in the main one.

Thanks

Paul M 07-11-2008 11:01 PM

There is no such facility.

NeoDB 07-12-2008 10:20 PM

Installed it, works great. One question/request:

Where it says "Members currently using Flashchat:" at the bottom, I want to have the word "Flashchat" in that sentence be a clickable link that takes you to the Flashchat itself.

A little help here about what to do?

SherryG 07-14-2008 02:57 PM

hi.
when i active this mod, my forum not loaded !!!
what can i to do?

milaszewski 08-03-2008 07:32 AM

I get a blank screen when this mode is enabled. I run Flashchat 5.0.3 - any idea how to fix it?

Paul M 08-03-2008 09:12 AM

This does not work with Flashchat 5.

ArnyVee 08-03-2008 03:02 PM

I heard that Flashchat five is very buggy anyways. So, I'm happy with my current version of Flashchat and this mod, of course :D

I'm getting this error:

The product paulm_wic_37 must be installed before this product may be installed. (Compatible starting with 3.7.001 / Incompatible with 3.7.999 and greater)

Paul M 08-07-2008 10:35 AM

That doesnt really make much sense, sounds like an issue with your vb - paulm_wic_37 is this mod. I assume you are running vb 3.7 ?

SnapOff Racing 08-07-2008 03:18 PM

correct. i have all the mods required installed (integration/admin integration) those both went in with no issues but i really need this hack installed so more users will jump in the chatroom.

SnapOff Racing 08-07-2008 03:21 PM

EDIT: I got it to finally install, now my forumhome is showing up "page cannot be displayed" :( please help!
