Any 22" Monitor Users out there?

Just hooked up my new monitor and I running at:

1680 X 1050 and I am wondering what do most of you guy's or girls use as a display setting?

And is vBulletin.org have really big text? Like the topic names are huge?

TTG 12-30-2007 09:57 PM

Acer 22" 1680 X 1050

Dean C 12-30-2007 10:46 PM

Going for a 24" dell once they announce the new model :)

nexialys 12-30-2007 11:04 PM

i have a 20 with the same 1680... it's an old 3 years old Apple display anyway, never beaten in quality.

MPDev 01-01-2008 11:51 PM

Dual Dell 24" widescreens....

Aniron 01-01-2008 11:54 PM

1440x 900 on a 22 inch wide screen. I guess I am just used to this size.

Dismounted 01-02-2008 01:08 AM

1440x900 on 22"? Are you running on the monitor's native resolution? Because most (if not all) 22" monitors have a native resolution of 1680x1050.

projectego 01-02-2008 08:44 AM

The laptop I'm using now is only a 15.4" but I'm using a resolution of 1650x1050 and everything appears to be displaying just fine. No especially large text, anyway.

Dismounted 01-02-2008 10:38 AM

You be using a magnifying glass or something to read text :p.

Dean C 01-02-2008 10:51 AM

Hey MPDev (sorry, I forgot your real name, Michael perhaps?), which dell models have you got :)?

You mean the model with the panel lottery ;)

The problem with the 226BW is that its build doesnt seem to be consistent. That its subject to the 'panel lottery' (like certain Dell units) where its initial production run used original Samsung made panels and subsequent units use or may use panels 'alleged' to be of a lower quality subcontracted out to a cheaper panel maker. The original Samsung panels have an "S" in the beginning of its serial number behind the back plate while the 'inferior' panels beign with an "A".

This is a big issue at Hard Forums where a 3000+ post thread deals with the 226BW and the "S" vs "A" panels. Many buyers have been very disappointed with the quality of the A panels and have returned them for refunds or replacements. I was initially very interested in the 226BW but I will not buy it if this issue is unresolved and the panel origin is unknown. I hope I can find some comparison review of these two types of panels and see how they fare side by side.

Dismounted 01-02-2008 12:14 PM

Yep, that one. :) All monitors manufactured after August (or September, I forgot) of 2007 have Samsung "S" panels, confirmed by a Samsung representative.

The "A"/"C" (AU Optronics/ChiMei) panels do show a blue tinge, but this can be fixed to look as good as an "S" panel with a colour profile.

RS_Jelle 01-02-2008 03:57 PM

LG L226WTQ 22inch wide screen :) (bought that instead of the Samsung one because of that panel lottery)
1 dead pixel

I bought it in july, but now I'm a bit disappointed as HDMI is coming up (and I don't have it :D) and 24" screens have a reasonable price now :p

Dean C 01-02-2008 05:20 PM

DVI can deliver the maximum consumer-producable resolution that HDMI can :) Don't jump on the bandwaggon Jelle!

FleaBag 01-04-2008 01:19 AM

It's true, I use a DVI to HDMI cable to my 32" display for watching videos while I browse (some in glorious HD). :)

Ditto :)

PennylessZ28 01-05-2008 03:40 AM

MPDEV those are some awesome SCI-FI prints, where did you get them if I might run off topic and ask?

MPDev 01-05-2008 05:23 PM

Hey, Dean; sorry for taking so long to get back to you - these are the 2407s. Second generation if I recall - great USB ports on the side and media readers.

PennylessZ28, those are original and numbered lithographs I purchased some 13+ years ago and had archived framed; the larger one is Second Star to the Right...and Straight on Till the Morning and is signed by all the original cast members of Star Trek.

Dean C 01-05-2008 06:37 PM

2704-HC :)?
The famous ghosting monitors
;)?

MPDev 01-05-2008 08:04 PM

I believe its a WFP - maybe the same thing, not sure. I do know is I use these for many different tasks (including video editing and photo editing) and I love 'em. I don't see me needing to upgrade these puppies for a long time - unless I go for the dual 30". :)

Dean C 01-05-2008 08:35 PM

Na WFP is a different panel and not so bad :)

LanciaStratos 01-05-2008 08:51 PM

I am running 2560x1600 on a Dell 3007WFP. It's amazing what a few extra pixels can do - welcome to the world of high res, Weapon-x!

Is it actual HD, though? You need two more things to actually see it in HD - an HD-capable video card, and an HD movie. Otherwise you're just looking at a nicer, bigger, higher contrast monitor :) Which is awesome, and exactly what I do, but still not HD.

Guest190829 01-11-2008 07:05 AM

Yeah, it's a great monitor! Much better programming on it than my 13" macbook screen lol.

http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors...-31335738.html

I love it.. I've had it always on for 2 years and the usb hubs are my fav.. right there on the side! I also have it hooked up so I can watch tv and surf the web, at the same time. It has a sleep feature too.

I'd love to have two. LOL not gonna happen. Not anytime soon anyway.
