You don't tend to get very far with resellers.

Most people want to purchase resellers and set up their own hosting business. I would recommend starting with a VPS selling resellers, perhaps the occasional simple hosting, and then, if you become successful, upgrade to a dedi ;)

Its better to start with a reseller first ,understand the business and then go for a Dedicated Server as your requirement grows. You just need to make sure that the hosting you chose should offer a good support for your clients as well.

If somebody actually buys that then I am sorry for them

There is no such thing as "unlimited space"

Definitely stay away from Webfusion / Pipex / 123-reg (the hosting side), they are all the same company and they are about as reliable as a one legged donkey! The support staff are easily confused :erm: and can take anything from 24hrs to 72hrs to reply.

Its just a marketing strategy and its better to avoid such overselling hosts.

It is not really appreciated if you, being a direct competitor, make such remarks. Or does your own hosting fall under your remark?

A dedicated server doesn't cost nearly as much as $7,000.00 USD.

Dedicated Servers are rented from the Hosting/Server company and typically range from $100-600 per month depending on Transfer and Specifications. Back when I got my first Dedicated I think it was costing me close to $200 per month.

I think you might of mixed up Colocation with Dedicated Servers, colocation is were you buy your own server and rent space and bandwidth at a colocation company. This could cost you maybe $2,000 per server or less I dont think your going to need quad xeons to start right? Then space and bandwidth would run almost the same as a Dedicated Server.

Now the difference would mean you own your server and if the hosting company is mean or you dislike their uptime or support you could pull your server and find a new colocation company.

I would start as a reseller, then move to dedicated, then colocation. This process would typically take you years web hosting is a competative market and not many make it, You need that marketing niche and no Unlimited Everything isn't a niche its a turn off to most savvy customers.

good luck in finding a great Reseller, I personally never had a reseller account so I cant point you in the right direction but I hope this cleared up the $7,000 cost you thought you had to make on a dedicated server.

I use webhostingbuzz for my reseller account. Their support is great and prices are even better. I have been with them for 2 years now. Back when I opened my account they charged less. I still pay the same price (they grandfathered me in) even though their prices have gone up. I have their highest reseller plan.

Agreed :D

Dedicated servers can run between 50-200 dollars. Then you'll have to pay for the software you want so you'll need about 150 to start and then that again per month if you wish to go with a reseller.

However if you get a reseller it can range from 10-50 dollars a month. *** Advertising removed ***

wow who wants to pay 50 bucks for a reseller. ampedhosts.com can get you 350GB storage 700 GB bandwidth for their BASIC plan just starting at $15.95 a month

That is bad, They are drastically overselling. Once you hit half way of that they will suspend your account saying you've used up to much resources.

Mayhem51 02-04-2008 09:54 PM

umm have you seen hostgator?? they over sell way more then ampedhosts and hostgator uses a 20% cpu thing and ampedhosts i believe uses 90% according to them...
