Bandwidth Limit?

I am right now getting this error and I am suppose to have unlimited anything. I have contacted my hosting service via email but I just don't understand this We only have 7 members? WTF I am just up to the head with all of this that is going on. And the problem is that I don't know when or if I will hear from him. Any suggestions?

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later.

It is weird. I have the same problem. I thought I was ddos attacked. I don't know much about technicalities, but that is what I believed with me. I too had like 10 members at the time it happened. As for the unlimited, that is up to you and your host.

Chance4Today 12-22-2007 08:44 AM

Well since it seems to be so hard to get ahold of him and that this is really my main baby I just got another host for this site. Ugghhh Oh well life goes on and on and on LMAO :p

oh BTW thanks for the response I have been up all day now for almost 24 hours and it is only 4:30 am here. My dog is quite upset to say the least. :D

If not your fault, its nothing that you have done that has used the bandwidth.
The person who provides you with hosting has obviously overloaded his reseller.

Things like "unlimited" Simply do not exist in the hosting buisness.
If a deal is to good to be true it more often then not is.

As far as anybody is concerned, "unlimited" doesn't exist in anything.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on an "unlimited drive" lmao

cooldude714 12-27-2007 07:45 AM

How can you have unlimited?

The server, as with anything else in life, must have a physical limit imposed on it.

lighti 12-28-2007 08:04 PM

Unlimited is a marketing ploy. Unlimited only means "As much as we can give you without impacting our business"

TCE Killa 12-28-2007 09:17 PM

What hosting website are you with?

Snake 12-28-2007 11:05 PM

Just to let you know that there's no such thing as unlimited. Most of the hosts out there cannot provide unlimited space and/or bandwidth. There's a slight possibility for bandwidth, but never for space.

TCE Killa 12-29-2007 09:28 AM

^What happens if you run up the space with your host? Do they shut you down?

2 options can happen in a case like this. In case of BlueHost and hostgator, they shut you down. With any reasonable host (crissic.com) they would simply upgrade their disk space and/or add additional harddrives to support their customers.

TCE Killa 12-29-2007 08:49 PM

Hostgator will shut you down? Shit, I'm with them. How do you find out how much space you have left and how much you have? Thanks.

One of the issues with your site is your banner image is almost 1mb alone. This is way too big.

Here are the stats on your home page.

Connection Rate Download Time
14.4K 1172.90 seconds
28.8K 590.85 seconds
33.6K 507.70 seconds
56K 308.14 seconds
ISDN 128K 100.47 seconds
T1 1.44Mbps 16.76 seconds

16+ seconds on a T1, people are going to go to a different site. :) nobody likes to wait and considering only about 1/3 of the people have higher then a T1, you are missing out on a lot of members.

I found this with my HostGator directory website log:

Disk Space Usage 178.62 Megabytes
MySQL Disk Space 9.77 Megabytes
Disk space available 1023821.38 Megabytes
Bandwidth (this month) 269.26 Megabytes

^^^Does that mean I have loads and loads and loads of space left? Thanks.

R1lover 12-29-2007 09:02 PM

Yes those stats are on your site...

As for your info, it doesn't say what your bandwidth limit is? 269 MB is not very much.

TCE Killa 12-29-2007 09:04 PM

^How did you get them from my site? I haven't even posted my website on here lol.

R1lover 12-29-2007 09:12 PM

Sorry I was referring to the thread starter...... this is about his site... lol not yours.

TCE Killa 12-29-2007 09:15 PM

Lol thats okay, but with my disk space available and disk space used, does that mean I have alot of disk space left? Like in loads and loads and don't have to worry about a thing. Here is my website, www.hiphoprapcommunity.com/HHRC/index.php

Thanks.

After the 1st your bandwidth allotment will restart.
I monitor my bandwidth every month. When I start seeing it creep up I start to consider different plans.

TheHeartSmasher 12-29-2007 10:39 PM

For sites that host there own videos unlimited bandwidth does exist.
10Mbps Unlimited $100.00+
100Mbps Unlimited $1500.00+

are regular prices to pay per month for unlimited bandwidth.

TCE Killa 12-29-2007 11:52 PM

My videos are uploaded from Youtube, and they're not on my server, so that shouldn't affect my server and bandwidth should it? But I have a profile gallery which any size pictures are uploaded to my server and custom CSS for profiles, would that affect really bad?
