PNG Editor Buttons
 

As another step forward in usability, here is another simple template edit that uses the FAMFAMFAM Silk Icons for your editor buttons. These icons are in PNG format with alpha transparency so should look good on any background except pure black. Black doesn't work since most of the icons contain a lot of black.


If you have a lot of Internet Explorer 6 users, then you will need to install the following addon as well:
PNG Transparency for Internet Explorer - This will enable Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6.0 to utilize PNG Transparency through DirectX filters. This is not needed for Internet Explorer 7 or higher.



Features

• PNG icons for Standard and WYSIWYG Editors
• Cut, Copy and Paste enabled in Editor
• Extra icons included for additional common BBCodes including superscript, subscript, audio, video, and horizontal rules.

Installation

1. Upload all images to yourforumpath/images/editor
2. Merge the style.xml file into each style you want to apply the changes to. This will only work on styles with unedited editor templates. If your editor templates are modified then you will need to revert them to apply this change. To do this follow the steps below.

Merging Styles

1. Go to Styles & Templates -> Download / UploadStyles.
2. In the Upload form, browse to the editor_png.xml file
3. For the Merge Into Style choose the style that these changes should be applied on.
4. Tell the system to ignore the version number (just in case).
5. Click Import.
6. Repeat for each additional style.

The FAMFAMFAM Silk icons are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License.
Note:
If you install this template modification after upgrading to 3.7.0 RC4 or later, you will need to manually add the security token notification to the three templates. This line of code needs to be added:

If this is installed before you upgrade to RC4 then vBulletin will automatically add these lines during the upgrade process.

Update:
Updated to 3.7.3 with all code changes between Beta 2 and 3.7.3 applied.

Mi editor doesn't show the little square color when you choose a color... Your image shows it but not on my editor... I don't know what could be wrog.
Also your explanation on how to merge the style is wrong...
it should be editor_png.xml :D

Could you provide a link to your forum? This should only change the graphics, not mess with any functionality.

Ok, look at the attachment, the problem is just happening with firefox, and thats because 16x16 are too small so the little color bar gets hidden.

Also on firefox the copy, cut and paste doesn't work, so it should be commented or some kind of conditional xP dunno.

I'll work on a fix for the line display in Firefox. Cut, Copy and Paste can be turned on in Firefox. Here are the instructions:

Installed and nice work.

You can probably pull icons from any KDE Icon set and get what you need. That is what I used originally. There are a bunch of different styles and colors available at www.kde-look.org. Most of them are GPL or otherwise free-to-use licenses.

Other than that, Shelley_C is making a set of Editor Icons that are very colorful and can probably be matted on black. She might even be able to export them as transparent PNG files. I was going to use them originally but didn't want to have to go to the trouble of getting them matted to my background which is a beige color.

why not using replacement variables instead of this ? also this changed my width of the editor box it make it smaller which i dont like. how to undo or fix?

Replacement variables are messy for long term use in my opinion. They also add another layer of processing onto template generation.

Not sure what you mean by making it smaller as the overall width is controlled by a stylevar which I didn't change.

To revert, you should just be able to revert the editor templates that are included using the style manager. There are only three edited templates which are:

editor_toolbar_on
postbit_quickedit
showthread_quickreply

Great work and more than great but I have on quiestion how to add this tool to the editor toolbar see the image in attachment plz becuase I do not have it in my editor toolbar :confused:

error occure when I use editor toolbar the error in disorder or not arrangement like before used also the effect dose not occure to the text see the pic in attachment

Those are standard functions if you have the list BBCodes active on your site.

This is a cosmetic change it changes nothing about the functionality of the editor. Even the copy, paste, and cut functionality is in the default editor when it ships albeit commented out. If you have problems with the editor functioning then you should post a question at www.vbulletin.com for support.

my editor toolbar work perfect but whaen I added this mod it appeares like in pic above now I uninstall the mod untill I solve this problem!!
