Proxy IP to real IP conversion
This modification is no longer available or supported. This hack makes the forum always use the members real ip when a proxy is detected, meaning that all existing ip functions should continue to work, basically ignoring the proxy server (other than recording it's presence). i.e. * The real ip (or host) is displayed in the who's online page. * The real and proxy server ip's are accesible for each post, the button is red for members using a proxy server. * The real ip is searchable in the admin/mod cp (but not the proxy ip). * The real ip can be banned by admins. etc etc ...... Note: Obviously this hack relies on the proxy server passing the correct http variables to allow detection. If a proxy is detected, then a red ip icon is displayed instead of the standard one. This mod will also detect if the ipinfo hack is installed and adjust itself to call the ipinfo code. History: v3.7.001 : Initial release for vbulletin 3.7 beta. v3.7.002 : Fix px.gif - Update install data for 3.7. v3.7.003 : Installation Code Updated. Remember that this modification involves changes to the class_core.php file - if you upgrade your vbulletin, you must reapply those changes. |

Yeh, default in vb would of been a nice feature!
Especially with the vast ammount of proxies about these days. |

I think there is a problem with the px.gif I just downloaded it and it has dimensions of 3349x3345 and when opened says, "Drawing Failed".
I think you're right, I just tried and got the same. I've updated it.
Yup worked like a charm.. Thanks Paul!
Will install when vbulletin 3.7 is released fully.

Good work, Paul. Does this version work with 3.6? (Can you please add a note in post #1?)
Nope, this is the 3.7 version. There are seperate releases for 3.0, 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7

More and more proxy servers these days do not pass on the required variables. Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about them.
How well does this work for AOL users? Will their Ip's be detected?
As I recall, AOL proxy servers do not pass on the details.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')' in /home/globald5/public_html/forum/includes/class_core.php on line 1722
I keep getting that error |
Then you have not edited the file correctly. Start again.
Just wondering, is this a fairly generic way of detecting proxies, or could you extend this, and take a look at proxies manually that are currently not being detected and get them to be detected in a future update?
Thanks Paul, *Installed*
Paul, thanks for the Mod. However, how do I know/find out the use of this mod? I already installed it but don't know where to see the use of it.
anyone knows how to use this mod?

Thanks much for the help. However, where your normally see the Red IP Icon (assume there is one proxy IP)? Do you see it when viewing "Currently Active Users" or in AdminCP (where)
In posts (only).
That I'd like to know. Thanks so much Paul.

Hello,
Please help me understand "what it do..?" I have just instaled this mod in my board, but when i tryed to post some post using http://anonymouse.org , my messages have still 'anonymous.org' IP adress. I can`t see a 'proxy icon' anywhere. Maybe there is some options in ACP to activate this hack? I have just changed class_core.php file and imported icon and product. Maybe i did sth wrong? |

PS. I`m not sure it have a matter, but month ago i have another problems and someone tells me i have to edit postbit_legacy (not postbit), because something.. ? :P |
